I'd move into a house that allowed my wife & kids to have more property for horses & horse related stuff I'd put in a food forest, silvo pasture & raise some cows, & more pigs. I'd put in a nice shop, wood working, metal working, laser cutter, cnc, 3d printer or 2. that way I could get back into wood working & just play doing stuff
I'd probably also take a really long trip (30-60 days) with my family to see the US, I'd spend more time with my kids camping, fishing, horseback riding, etc.
http://www.vthreat.com/ was founded, by Marcus Carey, accelerated by http://www.mach37.com/ and recently funded to provide "IT fire drills" to organizations. I'd say if you can get funded & launch a product, it's an important thing to be doing. At the very least have some table top exercises where you or others ask some what if's, then take the answers or lack there of and fix them, and do it again.
If people were being paid to fix things as opposed to throwing them out and buying new, the economy would shift from good based back to labour based. And we could potentially become less dependent on foreign goods. Unless with our wisdom we ship everything overseas to get fixed and then ship it back because it's cheaper.
The problem is not having everything, the problem is it is cheaper ( and culturally acceptable ) to just throw something out rather than get it fixed. My wife works with children, and one day she asked one of them where his new bike was, he said it was broken, after several minutes of explainiation my wife determened that the tire went flat and would no longer hold air. The child thought the bike was trash.
I feel we need to raise the price of items to make it more economical to fix it than to trash it, or simply tax the item to make it cheaper to fix then to trash.
Everything/could/ be done with out a ssn. A ssn is simply a "unique" number idenitfying who you are supposed to be. If the major Financial institutions decided to they could implement a system which assigned a different combination fo public and private "keys" to provide the functionality of the ssn. And there are many other ways like the PGP key signings, which if tracked properly could allow for trusted and compromised id's.
Since you are already using 4 drives just use raid 1+0 optimally split the 1+0 across 2 controllers and you will get muchbetter preformance. even just 1+0 is faster than raid 5.
umm no, not completely, in order to attack your network the data has to become unencrypted at some point in time. When it does it becomes traceable and you'd then be able to analyze it. It may be a bit harder and require an IDS box on the inside of the network, too.
I did that, All I have to say is the coax stuff that is used for antena cable is expensive. I/had no idea/ putting wireless in required so many wires. Everyone said it was cheaper.
I had 2 neighbors that had it and cancled, both are looking to get rid of their equipment, not the newest stuff, but it was not much faster than dialup, and it was very laggy. I would not and did not purchase it becuase of their experineces.
IANAL but... How about charge for advertising on your blog space. Then when a spammer posts a spam to your blog you have a theft of service law suit that can be processed. It will be easier if they are spamming for a legit company. Just ask/sue the company for the Identity of the person whose affiliate number is XXX and then sue the person for theft of service.
Just make sure to include an hourly rate for tracking down people who abuse your service:)
advertising = High if you don't want it moderate if you want some and low if you want lots Hourly rate of hunting down people who steal advertising = HIGH
I have come to the conclusion that the us is a society of convience, we thow stuff away all the time. It's not really aour fault tho, there is no incentive to recycle. It does not cost the consumer more to buy something that is made from virgin material. If we want recycling to take place you need to tax the piss out of non recycled materials. Spending the money on the recycling programs, education about packaging (not putting 10,000 pieces of paper in a box), and discounts for items made and packaged in highly recycled materials, and incentives. I do not know how much of this is done, but if you hit the consumers in the wallet they will demand change.
make them use GPL or sommat on their code, that way they need to document what portions they copied. Then grade them on the portions they actually did them selves. Ie copied the core algo, but wrote the rest 25% or less
copied the algo, but rewoked it to be more efficient 75 or what ever
I have a flex schedule, but they cancled my vacation, because something might happen: nothing did or would. Then they wanted me to start showing up on time at 8. now I work till 4:30, as a rule. I have been staying till 5 recently, but that is about to stop. I was normally at work by 8:30 hardly ever past 8:15 and I always put in the time on the other side of the day. I got in late I worked late.
I am salaried so I will do not get overtime. I get admin time.
There is not enough profit in the price for electricity to modivate a power company to jump thru all the hoops to put extra capacity on line. Everybody wants power but they don't want the plants in their back yard, we all want clean power but not nuclear. If power companies could get a small bonus for having extra (10% +) capacity and also grid stability bonuses/uptime bonuses.

It's not security by obscurity, it's security by stupidity.
Personally I've not seen a better setup for an FPS, then a mouse and a keyboard(of somekind), the other controlles are just too slow or too inprecise

$5/month/downloader
or possibly a bit more. Since yahoo has an agreement with RIAA then so they have negociated a contract with them.

But if you had to replace your roof every 10-15 years and you also paid for 50% of your electrical use over that period I bet it'd be worth it

My lowly MS SQL server has 4 raid 1+0 channels.
1 for the OS and swap, and 3 for databases.

if it does not exist how can they sell licenses?

that you can choose to run on your subnet, and choose to reboot now, not reboot, or wait until a specific time.
Isp's should require the ability to patch systems or disconnect them from the net in the event of a virus/trojan/compromised system.

ahh, but you can just take the stuff from a remote control car and connect it to a series of relays to get more power to control motors.

Now I don't need to delete my spam

User boxes check for pathces nightly, if exist they get installed
Power users (5) get the patched downloaded and install at leisure.
Servers get the patched downloaded and depending on the severity get rebooted about weekly at opportune times
Linux, installed as needed.
