Companies aren't going to spend the hundreds of billions needed for facility developments on the Moon, Mars, Titan, and more without having property rights and mineral rights to those location.
Imagine it's 2044, your company spent billions setting up a dilithium mine on the moon. Only to find out that your mine is some property "claimed" by some guy back in 2004. And his heirs are asking you to purchase your property from them.
I think claiming celestial bodies should be the same as the way early settlers did it. If you moved to a piece of land, farm it, improve it, then it will be yours.
Claiming land on other planets should have more rules than calling shotgun.
Examples: 1) Now that this major patch has been released, starting from now on, all subsequent patches will only be available via the registration downloads page.
For this reason, you must register the game and ensure that your profile contains correct, accurate and useful information.
Today, a large number of records have been DELETED from the database. These range from single letter first/last names, to completely empty profile info. Now, those people will have to re-register. And if the same problem occurs, the database will again flush these records every week. After three such deletions, the CDKEY will be invalidated and you will no longer be able to register it.
I paid a LOT of money for this system and I don't like people making a mockery out of my system.
So, now would be a really good time to login to your profile and update it accordingly.
2) From now on, ANYONE posting ANYWHERE on this site without their valid sys info in their signature, will be site banned. If you don't know what a site wide ban is, read this.
There won't be ANY warnings whatsoever. And once you are site banned there is absolutely ZERO chance of coming back here. Ever. If you feel so bad about it, next time you see my games on the shelves, just walk on by.
And this is how the guy talks to customers! Why would any company put up with this asshole?
I mentioned those three movies because they are what drove movie industries profits. I also don't think they are marketed to teenagers. Apparently you haven't seen Harry Potter.
I also find it odd you countered my sequels, with a sequel of your own. And you mentioned a movie that starred Matt Damon, the most untalented actor next to Adam Sandler. Bourne Identity anyone?
There are plenty of art houses and private theaters that show non-blockbuster movies. Heck I just seen the Triplets of Belleville at one of these. A good and original movie I might add.
Ironically a report out earlier this week shows that the US imprisons more people than any other developed country. To give you a few figures from the article on prisons not the answer for social problems, "There were 715 inmates for every 100,000 U.S. residents last June. Mexico's incarceration rate is 169 per 100,000, and Canada's rate is 116."
There are currently more than 2 million people in US jails. NPR is running a series this week on the ineffectiveness of the prisonsystem.
Now I don't think for a minute that this sentence will ever be carried out. For one, didn't we already determine that most pirated movies come from people who get advanced copies on DVD? Can't find articles on that right now.
But if you want to change this ridiculous system of punishment please support initiatives like Downsize DC.
I was pleasently surprised when I logged in this morning to see that I now have 2 gigs of space and they removed the ads. And the interface has been upgraded.
Btw, I am a Yahoo! Mail Plus user. It was nice of Google to force all this competition. I was continously at 90% usage of my mailbox, now I am at 1%.
Someone at the library, card catalog, or computer terminal?
And how did they get to the library and search for the answer to "Question 3: Who is the vice chairman of the all-party parliamentary group on back care?" in say 1min 16sec? Do the British have Star Trek-styled teleportation devices?
Where I now work I typically build everything in one of the following tools, ASP.NET, VB.NET and MS SQL Server. At the company before that it was all in Lotus Notes/Domino slowly migrating to ASP. And before that it was all Java.
Why did I choose those tools? The answer is, I didn't. I never got a choice of what to use. I had to use what the company already had in place.
I know very well that ASP.NET is not the best place to build a workflow application. But managers have already picked their favorite technology, even if they don't understand them.
In smaller companies the IT manager used to be the network admin. Guess how much network admins know about software design and languages. Try nothing!
So until they start promoting trained software developers to management this problem with persist.
I for one want a DS9 movie. I am currently watching the entire series via Netflix, but I am down to the last two seasons.
If they start working on a DS9 movie right now, I will forgive them for that lame ST: Enterprise episode last night. I can only take so much of the same plot. Which is one reason I don't watch 24.
I supposed i'd have to know what netflix is before i can't hear of it's rise and fall..
This comment is derogatory plain and simple. If he really wanted to know what it was he would have googled "Netflix." This person is merely trying to relish in his own ignorance.

Don't tell me there are developers or DBA's creating stored procedures in this fashion. This is something I expect from one of my lusers using Access. The code this creates is a nightmare.
However for most other things I like the GUI too. Which is why I downloaded these GUI tools for MySQL.
I am more than ready to order Vonage and ditch my landline. I was ready to order months ago. But they don't have my area code. They just added Columbus so I can only hope they are adding Cincinnati next.
It had to already be mentioned, but if not here it is. The Slim Shady LP sampled a song called Pigs Go Home and was sued by the current copyright owner, a 70 year old grandmother.
In fact I got two job offers on the same day. One from a company I found on Monster and another from a company that found my resume on either monster or hotjobs (can't remember which.) I also had many, many interviews that resulted directly from Monster and Hotjobs.
My company relies on Monster to identify candidates, mainly for sales positions.
Even if the chances are slim, if you are looking for a job - put your resume on monster.
It took them each 2 to 4 hours to work through all the differences, convert the text to Word, etc.
I would love to see this Word document that doesn't work with OpenOffice. I commonly use OpenOffice to edit Word and Excel files and never had a problem transfering them back. Are you using Word forms or something?
I have yet to be in a movie theater or restaurant where someone is using a cell phone. (That I have noticed that is.) But get this, who cares if someone is on the phone in a restaurant? If they weren't talking on the phone they would be talking to someone else at the table. Conversations are going on all around you and the only one that annoys people is when someone is talking on a phone? If two people are talking during a movie do you throw them out, or politely ask them to be quiet? If you ever encounter someone using a cell phone during a movie, ask them nicely to take it somewhere else.
But in my opinion cell phones w/ cameras can actually enforce good manners. I heard a commentary on NPR the other day, the guy complaining about how he couldn't walk around naked in the locker room because of fear of camera phones. GOOD! Now I hope everyone does the same thing. He ended with "For now on I have to use a towel." The only thing more inconsiderate than talking during a movie is walking around naked in the locker room at the gym.
Before you call cell phone users inconsiderate, why don't you look at your own manners first. I guarantee you that you have habits that annoy the general public. Smoking anyone?
These same IT guys could, more easily I might add, install Windows and a backdoor product like BackOrifice.
But if they are the IT guys? Why would they need to build a backdoor? If you wanted access to the system after you have been terminated, just add an additional user to Active Directory (or your resident LDAP server) that no one would think to delete if you were fired.
Employees subverting a organization from within would be no more aided by OSS than any other program they can download or build themselves.
I watched the new Battlestar Galactica, and I actually liked it. So starving for more BG I ordered the original series from Netflix. I liked the first multi-part episode of the original series, but after that they were all crap. All the plots are as follows -- Apollo marooned on a planet, Starbuck marooned on a planet, Apollo and Starbuck marooned on a planet. Arggh! I hope the new series actually lives up to the pilot episode.
To all those who did not like the new episode, watch it again. I didn't like it at first, but it grew on me. The acting is first rate and all the characters are very likeable.
invest all the money you can save living in an apartment
What savings? My four bedroom house cost me less than my friends one bedroom apartment.
He might pay less for heat/AC, but that's nothing compared to savings on taxes. Since I get to deduct my mortgage (and property tax) from my taxable income.
When it comes to investing you should get the following in this order: 1) Home 2) 401k 3) Roth IRA (when you max 401k)
A house also appreciates in value, and your mortgage stays the same. While rent goes up every year.
IANAFA (Financial Advisor) but I have a smart one and I have been doing this for a long time.

If, for some reason, this guy still has fans; I think they might be suffering from Stockholm syndrome.

Too late...

If you release movies that people WANT to see (Harry Potter, Spiderman, Shrek); than people will pay to see a movie? No F***ING WAY! What a concept.
Someone should report this new marking strategy of producing a quality product to the RIAA; maybe they can learn something.
