  1. Wouldn't want that now would we? on Games Workshop Goes After Fan Site · · Score: 3, Insightful

Wouldn't want to have people actually using our products now would we? Just keep buying the ones we tell you to buy, or else we'll punish you for not wanting to change to our mindset. It's why I stopped playing D20 games. After 4.0 came out with NO open content, I turned and never looked back. I've always stopped by their stores and thought HOW in heavens they keep afloat. A dedicated shop front for a hobiest game cant be all that efficient. Besides, there's just no way I'd drop that much cash on figurines just to play a game, but then again it's not my kind of hobby. I do play P&P PRGs, after all, and that require quite a bit of pricey dice and books, so who am I to talk? Seeing this now, I'll be pretty glad to see them going out of business soon.

Yeah, it's never too much of a problem until it affects you.

What if you live in an apartment and have a friend or family member come stay with you for an extended period of time and you suddenly get charged an occupant violation fee because your utilities are being monitored by the complex manager? Seeing at how gung-ho about fines the complex I just moved from is, I don't see that being too far-fetched of a scenario, especially if your utilities are included in your rent.

Over the back of a silver spoon float a measure of Qualactin Hypermint extract, redolent of all the heady odours of the dark Qualactin Zones.
Drop in the tooth of an Algolian Suntiger. Watch it dissolve, spreading the fires of the Algolian suns deep into the heart of the drink.
    Sprinkle Zamphour.

There was a recent case (a week ago) when, IIRC, three street thugs conspired to kill someone; one obtained the gun, another fired it, and third disposed of the weapon. All three got prison terms.

It's nice to see that street thugs these days are keeping up on their Agatha Christie.

One day you're going to get a ticket, try to fight it and the cop is going to show up with a handwritten transcript of everything you said to him. You will have to pay the ticket. If you hadn't of talked to them, you could go to court and fight back at the prosecutor's strategy and at least have a chance of not paying it. That's what I've done and been successful at.

They got him on conspiracy and aiding and abetting computer intrusion and wire fraud because someone bought a router from his group's site and used it to get unlawful access to internet. The biggest piece of evidence beside all that is a post he made on his forum asking for a valid MAC address. Supposedly, just because he (allegedly) asked for the MAC add, he committed all 6 crimes he was convicted of. That's bullshit, he's fighting it and I would too. Definitely a "your rights' issue.

Is that it attempts to capitalize on something that is based on an emotional response, perhaps even an emotion need, some may argue. There is something about music gets us moving, or thinking, or crying or something. It's just uncanny how it works out sometimes. But music just gets whored out to the masses these days and no one even thinks twice about it. No one questions lyrics that don't even begin to make sense. No one questions why melodies haven't evolved much in the past 100 or so years of mainstream music. It's just something that inexplicably fills some emotional void that they probably were not even aware existed because music has always been here for us to listen to.

  24. No thank you. on In-Game Advertising Makes Games Better? · · Score: 1

I don't care it if it helps lower the cost of the game because it's not going to be significant enough to make me buy a game that I wouldn't buy otherwise because of the price. In reality, if there's a game I really want to play, I'd be willing to pay heavily for it if the cost is justified.

Just slapping some ads into the game, regardless of how cleverly they are slapped in, does not change my decision to not play a game. In fact, it changes the game that I wanted to wanted to play in the first place so that I no longer wish to play it, and this actually nullifies the purpose of the ads: to get me to buy stuff they think I'd like because I'm playing this game. So, if I found out that a game featured real-world ads, I simply wouldn't buy it because it's no the game I want to play. Circular marketing reasoning, go figure.
