Re: Consumers pay it all, in one fashion or another. The buck stops there.
I tried to make argue that corporate taxes should be zero with a colleague the other day, but was shouted down with the arguement that companies would simply pocket the money to increase profits instead of increasing wages or lowering prices on their products. Of course I didn't have any evidence one way or the other, so we had to agree to disagree.
Their only arguement that I agreed with with him on is the coporate responsibility for externalities like environmental damage.
I like the idea of corporate taxes being zero so that there's no "game" for them to win.
I also prefer this approach when there are lots of people with lots of work. Each person does a little bit of the task...and before you know it...everything's done. This is usually for volunteer work, mind you.
(Not that I would approve of *exploiting* anyone...of course!)
Agree 100%. I have always thought that cheap/free energy would cause a huge societal shift. Think about anything you consume and estimate how much energy it requires to manufacture and deliver. With cheap energy, you don't need to work as much to live.
That was my first thought. The testing organization should have tested a piece of fresh chicken from a grocery store meat counter and published what that percentage.
Yes, you're right. Very likely *not* from Syria, but I think there are a social justice sympathizers that will *actually* think they are doing good by paying.
That said, this past weekend, *I* gave money to a person who walked up to me as I was getting into my car who had "car trouble". I know I was scammed, but I have the strange opinion that this was his "work"...especially since it was blustery cold out.
Everything you say is true except for your second statement. If they have a warrant they have the right to look.
If the police have a warrant and are looking for storage devices and then use URL to find a USB sticky thingy in a jar in a box under your floor, then I would support them tagging that USB thingy as evidence and looking at what is on it. If it's your family vacation photos to Russia or even ordinary porn, then it can't be used as evidence against you. However if there is one image of child porn on it, then I hope they arrest you on the spot and you never get out.
Ironically, I'm sure that had she been reprimanded and had her access revoked, last Friday they would have probably been reinstated since then she was the Democrat's candidate. At this point she is given daily national security briefings.
In fact, if she is elected she could have been charged with treason and still be president getting all the same briefings. Sigh.
I use Google's SMS TFA, which is uses when I logon using a new computer and love it. Google also allows me to print out a set of codes that I keep handy in case I don't have my phone.
Additionally, the second factor could be a call on a preregistered land line. Couldn't it?
I wouldn't classify any of the family farmers I know as wealthy. Where I grew up in Ohio, the farming families lived comfortably, but mostly that was because they accepted what they had and weren't "greedy" businessmen.
Where I grew up, farmers were not like this at all. Virtually ALL of them are family farmers and not "businesses". While I admit that farmers must also be businessmen, they don't have to *act* like one. My cousin is one of the hardest working farmers I know and would NEVER try to cheat you. And no, he's not the only one.
I truly feel sorry for your opinion of the people that grow your food and depend on Mother Nature to cooperate to earn a living.
I'm guessing AC's talking about computerized everything or modules where a simple switch is broken, but costs $500.00 to replace the entire module. Dual AC zones. Touch screens instead of simple radio controls. Heck, I'd add power windows and door locks to this list too.
The keys shouldn't be stored on any device like a hard drive or thumb drive, since those can fail.
I would print out all of the keys on paper. Now would you store copies of the keys in more than one place, balancing the probabilities of them being lost verses being stolen?
And now he is lucky that he never intends to spend any of them. Managing those keys across multiple sites would be tedious.
Amen brother, Amen! When ever I go to buy a monitor, the salesman looks at me like I have three heads when I say I want a monitor that's not super shiny and reflective. Sigh.
I'm thinking that it's their marketing plan. Whatever they release is *THE* *BEST* *EVER*. And YOU MUST HAVE IT! They realized that an 8 inch phone was just too big for a phone, so they build another 4 inch phone and then told you to buy it.
I admit that I have never thought of organizations like the EFF, the NRA, and PETA when thinking about corporations being people.
However I want to restrict even these organizations from donating to political candidates. I want political contributions be be limited to human beings. If PETA likes Regan, then all of the individual members of PETA can donate as much as they want. With the added restriction that all of the contributions are made public immediately after the donation is made. Full and immediate disclosure so that nothing is hidden. And Apple, Coke and Ford would have to convince all of their employees to contribute if the company thought Regan is the best candidate. A for-profit company has only one goal...to make more money...which is probably not in the best interest of the USA citizens...which is what the politicians should really be concerned with.
Re: nearly limitless power generation capabilities
This is a *requirement* for the Matter Replication and Transmutation and Transporters, and like you said would completely change society. I don't know if it would be the end of Capitalism, but it sure seems like we would certainly be more socialistic.
We currently spend all of our time and energy and resources on energy generation or transmission or conversion. Eliminating that should free up so much of our time and resources everyone might get to pick what they want to do...engineer, poet, accountant, heck even *student*. A lifetime of simply learning. How's that for utopia?
The trouble is it's all impossible and against the laws of physics. Sigh. How's that for pessimism?

That's the first thing I thought about too! How does the car know it's an officer?
I wonder how easy it would be to mistake someone simply waving to another person and then the car drives onto the sidewalk?
Seems messy.
I've been saying the same thing about (name the item that can't be recycled now) for decades.
I imagined the day when we *mine* landfills.

(But you said this so much better.)
My two favorite features of my phone (Nexus 5) are the GPS and flashlight!

Well...There won't be an official web API for *me* to get *your* fingerprint data.
I believe that hackers will find that API though.

Or maybe I haven't thought about it enough.
Wouldn't it be really really funny if Satoshi Nakamoto *lost* his key to all of his bit coins?
Whoooosh?
