we'd be walking to the vending machines, looking out the window at the girls, or otherwise unwinding from the daily headaches.
They could always tie you to your cubicle and you have to phone your manager to be unchained to use the restroom and if you take too long they leave a bucket by your desk for the next time. Wait... I shouldn't be giving them ideas.
Quick question. I've always read that when the officer asks do you know how fast you were going that you are supposed to not say because this is used as a confession in court.
However, I've wondered what the correct answer would be?
I don't know? I wish to remain silent or fib and say you were going at or slightly above the speed limit? I mean what is the most legal route.
"The more daylight we have, the less electricity we use,'' said U.S. Rep. Ed Markey (D-Mass.), who co-sponsored the measure with U.S. Rep. Fred Upton (R-Mich.).
That sounds logical, until you realize that the amount of daylight is going to be the same regardless of what time it is and what time you wake up or go to sleep.
How many of you played Doom when you you were kids? Or watched those NC-17 slasher flicks bad in the late 70's/early 80's?
How many of you looked at your dad's porn mags or watched the fuzzy channels at night or "aquired" vhs's of the Spice Channel from your rich friend?
And how many of you grew up to be child molesting murdering pscychopaths with people burried in your back yard? Hrmm?!
Look. Let the kids fight to get the content like the rest of us did and learn the ropes of being a kid by tricking their parents, but lets not make a national issue over something that's litterally damn harmless.
If violence and sex were harmful to children, we'd all be dead right now.
Teenage pregnancy and teen violence because of gangs and drugs is far greater problem.

How are we going to justify giving food, clothing, and shelter to millions who have no income?
This is when we switch from a Democratic Capitalism to Technocratic Socialism.
When it no longer costs anything to produce anything that the only people that will have jobs will be engineers, artists, and designers of products and those who service the robots.
However they might even be out of a job when you eventually have robots repairing robots and then AI designing better robots.
But in the process a great deal of people will be out of work. The best solution would be to give them bread and circuses via the unlimited resources your robots are producing and encourage population control in nice forms (like birth control and pro-choice abortions).
Of course this might lead to a faction of humans that intertwine themselves with machines to become immortal or at least one with the machines and see the fleshies as a threat and go beyond the normal means of peaceful population control.
Think flesh eating robotic spiders that self replicate and atomic weaponry on 90ft tall robots destroying cities with death rays. Hrm... Maybe I've been watching too mcuh anime.
With only an alt+tab get into a virtual-pc (or whatever)
That's Apple Key+Tab you insensitive clod!
(unless you have regular PC keyboard on your Mac then it's still Alt+Tab. On an Apple Keyboard(tm) there is also a button that says Alt on it, but it's not the same as the Apple Key or which is also known as the Control key.)
I had a talk with the head of Operations/Customer Relations during the interview at my current job and their statement why my company will never go public.
Basically, he explained the majority of companies that have gone public since 1980 have had an average growing period of a corp is 10 years or have reached their peak at 10 years. Usually after the founders have left the company and managment has gone hill and stockholders demand more immediate returns. There are exceptions, but most of these are the ones that you hear on a daily basis as a success story (Microsoft, Google, UPS, etc) and the ones you don't hear about are the ones that have gone bankrupt or have been bought out.
This might be related to the fact that having stockholders will actually cause the company to canibilize itself to return immediate investment profits so they can actually sell those stocks in short term instead of what they were intended originally in the pre-1980's where you would invest and wait 10 years before you'd expect returns.
That said 90% of public companies do not survive their 20 year mark. He also made note of many 100+ year old companies which have recently folded.
I guess someone should tell automakers that they should reinvent a mode of transportation from scratch.
If you could invent a vehicle that floated above the ground, used water as fuel, drove itself, and had a forcefield to prevent crashes and could make it under $1,000 then perhaps they should.
Not that any of is possible in the 21st century, but I feel a problem of many engineers, coders, and thinkers get tunnel vision and think things have to be done just like they have been done before.
I mean maybe should we create computers that use trinary instead of binary? Should we advance beyond the x86 architecture? Should we find another language besides C++ to do programming in? I'm not saying we should throw away everything that we created so far, but on occasion we should look outside and see if things could be done better. I'm sure if the originators of Unix, the x86, and OSS had the same technlogy and resources then as we do now, they may have done things very well different.
I'll have to rent it first, because even though I loved SR to death in Pen&Paper and in the games, I have my doubts with Microsoft.
Unless they make a ShadowRun FPS that is like Marrowind Elder Scrolls (which IMO was one the better RPGs of the decade) then it most likely just be Unreal Tourney with "futuristic skins".
Although if they made SR360 like System Shock2...

That and encourage them to buy Old Glory insurance.
To resolve this problem they need to discontinue support and shift the load to the players. Let the players run the masterserver and let the players support themselves in the forum.
Sure it might kill sales in the future, but there is speculation (amoung the tech supporters out there in the world) that the cost of one person to support is actually far greater than if you let him go as a loss even if he fails to purchase service in the future.
Considering I spent a few weeks erasing the horror of that wretched waste of my life that the LMM2 movie was out of my mind and forgetting the pain and the bitter dispointment that it had nothing in common with the first movie, I can safely say:
No.

What if all your citizens desires could be transported from the outside via the internet. Movies, games, music and various other etertainment. You don't really need those SUVs and pretty trinkents of jewlrey to occupy your time but more or less for status symbols.
The thing about Eastern cultures is they are more about conforming or at least not standing out as they are about status symbols.
Or perhaps they are more pratical about wants and needs seeing MMOGs are more popular over there.
I for one am glad I'm not the only one thinking about Peak Oil. I read a local newspaper article with a man stating that Peak Oil would happen around Thanksgiving this year! And although, IMO it won't happen until 2007 or by at the latest of 2020 but it's something we should seriously consider being the gas prices are going up and up.
The question each of us must ask is:
What will you do when gas reaches $5 per gallon?
What will you do when it reaches $10?
I guess I'll be taking the bus instead of driving but how many Americans have live in areas where Public transporation isn't available. The US Economy will just collapse in a sense or at least permantly change until an alternative fuel source is available. As of now that isn't looking too promising.
As of now Japan, China, and the EU are dumping tons of resources into this, but I've yet to hear anything about the US government acting on it. Maybe when gas prices get painfully high it will become an election issue, but by 2008 it might be too late.
There is quite a different between $5 and $10 for a disc vs $20,000 and $100,000 for a car.
I think people would most likely not flinch at a $5 price difference but I don't see discs being $20 in price difference.
But obviously, if the choice in the store was Debbie Does Dallas at $40 on Blue Ray vs Toy Story on HD-DVD for $10 then we already know which one is going to win out.
Hint: Not the one with Tom Hanks:)

The DS has two screens and with the touch pad you can use it as psuedo mouse for FPS games way better than any D-Pad could. I guess they could make another single wireless game boy with a single screen with a touch pad, but I think it might be redundant. Then again... They might make it so that you can use either a gameboy or a DS since I think many people might find the DS too bulky for a controller.
