Wouldn't the price of a batch of materials then drop as well? Say to.9 yuan? While the books say you lost money, if you adjust for in/deflation, then you still come out about the same. You have less total units of currency, but each unit buys more stuff.
Online retailers offering this service only makes sense. With items sitting in a warehouse and never being viewed by the customer prior to purchase, there isn't a need for fancy packaging that shows off the product and tries to prevent theft.
I know when I bought gifts for people (or their kids), they found it a great relief that they didn't have to spend time chopping through a clamshell and cutting/unwinding wire ties in a dozen different places just to get the product out of the packaging.
The fact that it saves on the amount of trash generated by the packaging for the product is icing on the cake!
It is just unfortunate that this kind of idea is next to impossible to have done in physical stores. While the idea of a display item doing the advertising and the real product being sold in plain boxes sounds like it would work, it becomes very hard to embellish on your product without outside packing.
Your (troll?) post confuses me to no end. You seem to rebuke criticism of the Kindle in your points while admitting there might some truth to the complaints. That sounds like you like it.
Jump ahead to your summary, and you say "it sucks ass".
Inbetween those areas, you reference an outdated rumor about a now confirmed/release second Kindle.
The problem with that idea is that we tried that before/during the Great Depression. We jacked up taxes on stuff not made here. US citizen then stopped buying stuff made "there". Once "there" got wind of this, they stopped buying our stuff. We were left holding our dicks.
"Hey, turns out you didn't steal that car! Grats. Oh...by the way...we scanned your DNA in our database while we legally had it in our database, and we think you shot a man in Reno. Might as well call your lawyer back."
I think this breakthrough only covers part of the liver's function instead of being a drop in replacement of the entire organ.
Many of the comments posted by people much more knowledgeable than myself seem to indicate that this can be used to help a liver do its job of detoxification to ease some of the burden on the liver to let it heal itself.
It could be they were confused on a Microsoft policy, or we the users are. I remember hearing a while back that in most MS EULAs, there is a clause that allows you to use a piece of purchased software on a desktop and a laptop without having to buy two licenses. The only exception that I heard existed was for Windows, where you were still supposed to have to buy two licenses.
I felt a twinge of hope during the Wall Stree/bank bailout when the politicians were touting how the bill will ONLY be for the bailout, and there won't be stuff piggy backing on the bill.
A week later, tax cuts for friends of politians, and all sorts of other crap that didn't belong there.
Even worse was that it was overlooked, since they were just "sweetening" the bill so that it'd pass.
Now, the only way I could see them passing the One Subject at a Time Act is if there's a dozen items attached to it to get buy in...
These "thieves" are just entrepreneurs! They're creating their own market.
1) Steal coupons for money off converter box 2) Wait until deadline when everyone is in a rush to find coupons for money off as deadline approaches. 3) ??? (Sell for half the price of the value of the coupon) 4) Profit!
I don't know if "trust" is the right word. Both programs can contain errors. The product with a guarantee to cover your ass if the error lands you in trouble with the IRS is the one that I'd be most likely to go with.
Which sounds better: A) Saving a fifty dollars on a piece of tax software, and an audit from the IRS lands you a hefty fine plus interest on the amount that was really owed OR B) Spending fifty dollars on a piece of tax software, and an audit from the IRS lands you a hefty fine plus interest on the amount that was really owed that is paid for by the company that made the tax software?
While FOSS has its place, there are times when going with the proprietary solution has more inherit value. The best solution in the above situation is a FOSS product that will cover any expense incurred due to an error in the software, but in the real world a project like that would die after the first bug.
I seem to remember there being quite a number of older titles released as freeware. Older iD titles, some of the earlier GTA titles, Tribes 1/2. With the number of mods available just for Quake 3, there will be tons of playtime just in one title. Red Alert was also released free, if you want to include some variety (as opposed to endless FPS games).
There are also current (ish) titles that might run on them. IIRC, Enemy Territory has a Linux port as does America's Army.
There's also the free games usually available for Linux that have Windows ports, such as FreeCiv.
Mostly unrestricted access to the game. They only limit some of your skills (and therefore ships) that you can learn, but it is mostly late game ships.
I always felt the tutorial was a fun into to the game. They show you how to move around, do mining and missions and the like.
That's the beauty of controlling the country's media. Instead of "Nuclear Bomb Aimed at Terrorists Kill xx Civilians" it's "Thousands of Terrorists Dead!" with some note about some minor casualties.
Diversify yourself! Write a program to turn some computers into a bot-net for spamming. Create a few phishing sites. After a while you get bored so you write a program just to steal gaming accounts to let people steal ingame crap from people to sell for money. If you're writing the programs for other people, a sale is a sale. If you're doing the rest of the work, then you're just picking up another easy (comparatively) source of income.
Most gear is soulbound upon equipping it, but 99% of the stuff you own can still be sold at a vendor for gold. The amount you get depends on the quality of the stuff you're selling. Gold isn't bound to your character. If it was, you wouldn't be able to spend any of it.
Tales of Destiny did a nice job with branching. The first "unbeatable" boss could get beaten if you leveled your characters to much beyond what you should be for that area (or next few areas) and the you got a short ending credit stating that the character continued on his way doing whatever he wanted. It also had other points where if you died it gave a piece of text customized to dying at that stage in the game.
What I really hate is when you fight a character who can take your entire party, but then through a plot twist ends up in your party and turns out to be weaker than the furry character with no abilities.
I'll openly admit my confusion.

Didn't you read the article/summary? The torrent is dead, because all the seeds went away.
On the other hand, we should just ask China. I'm sure they have some copies of the recipe laying around...

Summary: You work for Fox News.
And somewhere in the background, you can hear the Trusted Computing machine starting up...
A car in my car, so that I can drive while I drive?

Don't be silly. We all know the real supervillian is P3dobyte.
They will be able to charge differently for driving in different locations.
We have this kind of technology in New Jersey. We call it "toll booths", and we've found that they're cheap enough to put up everywhere!

...90% of the internet is demented.
I fucking hate playing guitar. Who the fuck likes strumming strings on some wooden shit guitar for fun? Might as well play guitar hero. Dumbasses.
