Now *that* would have been really stupid. So would installing the firmware update since it is almost certainly meant to limit access to one's hardware. Or maybe I'm just paranoid.
This claim is certainly right wing propaganda. Incandescent bulbs don't just magically appear on these shores, and so a direct comparison of CFL vs incandescent is valid. The mercury content of CFLs is a little troubling though and so I greatly anticipate the introduction of widespread LED availability.
Keytronic makes a nice keyboard too, a very good keyboard for programmers. This lenovo keyboard on which I'm typing right now is horrid, the throw for each key is about 2mm, way too shallow for serious typists.
Do not swap onto your USB drive, that is a very bad idea and will lead to horrific performance, and a failed USB key. Second, setup a ram disk on boot and put/var there so that all logging goes to ram disk. Most USB keys will fail otherwise because they are not designed for repetitive write cycles.
I wonder if they've considered using SCTP, but I'm too lazy to go research it. Which is odd since I'm unemployed. Or not odd. Take your pick. Anyway, I like SCTP, which maybe explains why I'm unemployed.
Remember back in the day of shareware? This is actually quite good compared to what we calculated for the few shareware products that we produced. At the time were were estimating that only about 1% of users bothered to pay for their copies. One interetsing thing about this though, is that every once in a while I still get a registration from someone almost 15 years after they started using it, and suddenly started feeling guilty.
If they're getting 20% I'd say that's pretty damn good.
I thought these examples were the reverse: the first was mentally deficient, the second was Kevin "shampoo" Nadeau, boy genius. Both were funny in their own right, the second is just old news.
As I recall, Billy Gates was still around when the Vista debacle began. But I take your point. You need a good balance of suits and geeks in any technology company, I've personally witnessed several tech companies brought to their knees because they demoted, fired or released the geeks from upper management roles, and ignored product design, planning and schedules in the name of marketing features.
This is reminiscent of Timex Sinclair from the late 70s for some reason, much more powerful no doubt, but it's interesting how the compact size is new again. And this seems about as interesting as the Sinclair did at the time. Fail.
Surely there is some way to make the exchange server talk using some means that is compatible with the Evolution exchange plugin, no?
I just googled 'exchange 2007 evolution plugin' and saw some talk of using openchange MAPI plugin for evolution. no idea what that might be, but it seems to be the direction things are taking based on the conversations I read from about a year ago.
If not, get sun virtualbox and run a virtual machine with XP running on it. Better than nothing.
Come on people, it's a question of scale. A figure like 28.8 billion pounds is nothing when you're talking about what, 50 million people? That's only about 575 quid per person. Say about 1000 bucks a head.
Whatever you do, don't leave it up to the bloody media companies to do. Look at it like a public utility. And after it's installed, you can charge the media companies to use it and manage it in a public-private partnership. It's win win baby.
I'm canadian, and I started playing hockey when I was 4 year old, and I can tell you I'm just as dumbfounded as you. I think it might ahve to do with the penalty that results from slashing someone with one's stick, how the dot figures into it I just don't know. Maybe it's a troll.
I've heard of Jesus riding a dinosaur, but never jumping the shark; although I'm sure it happened some time before the dark ages, because it's been down hill ever since.
Apparently, you've answered your own question. If you aren't interested in the "open" aspect of the phone, then you probably have no interest in the phone. And, of course, the iPhone is only 200 bucks (for the 8G model) if you sign your life away for 3 years (here in Canada anyway, not sure about elsewhere). Other reasons, it's got replaceable batteries. It's got a microSD slot so you can load it up with whatever size cards you've got lying around. Oh yeah, and the display is VGA (640x480) compared to the iphone's 480x320, granted the iPhone display is a bit larger. The iPhone does have a camera, and supports EDGE.
To me, this is hands down more interesting (as a linux geek anyway) than the farkin' iPhone.
so, let me get this straight, because openmoko comes out with an open phone, they are ripping off the iPhone, a closed device from a notoriously closed source company. The iPhone is nice eye candy, but it's useless to me because of the fact that one cannot do anything with it, and that you're forced to choose whatever provider that apple deems worthy.

Maybe we should just build that wall for the minutemen, but omit to tell them that we're doing it to keep them in, not us foreigners out.
Well that's nice, any braces for blocks yet? Just kidding.
BTW, whatever happened to Ruby? It just seemed to have dropped off the map in the past 6 months or so.

I remember playing tic-tac-toe on a big honkin mainframe in the 60s. The bastard machine beat me too.

I'd recommend XFS from previous experience, but I'm not sure if it can be resized down ... the tool, xfs_growfs, doesn't seem to suggest that it can.

Pray tell, what the fsuck is an MMO?
And why the fsck does it take 30 seconds to post to slashdot with this fancy new-fangled ajax commenting system? Damn that sucks.
I have this vision of the RIAA lawyers as a group of seals clapping their fins and barking, "arp, arp, arp, arp".
not sure why.
That is what I want to know, hey jeff, how many have you scooped up yourself?

AD = Anno domini ("Year of Your Lord")
Because he ain't mine.

Can you elabourate on that statement for a clueless newbie (when it comes to these farking wireless standards at least :)
Are you saying that people are claiming that it doesn't work with ATT but are using 3G sims when a GSM sim is required?
I for one thank the mythological deities of the human mind for the fact that it has no farkin' camera.

Go away little apple fanboy.
