Obscurity. The same people who are too computer noob to download firefox are going to be the exact same ones who wont download ie7 because they dont care or dont know how. The only way that ie7 is going to get any acceptance is to force compliace or force windows users to download (perhaps by reminding you every 30s that you dont have the latest version of the browser) Until they make ie complain that its out of date or release it on automatic updates i bet firefox will stay more popular than ie7.

No. This guy is wrong because all of these new and small and prevalent computers will all be producing massive amounts of data. For instance maybe your drill will have to connect to the internet everytime you use it so the company who sold it to you can monitor usage habits to make a better drill. This company will need a data center for all the millions of drills reporting their usage.

Medical Centres are now using Digital Xrays instead of film generating Terabytes per month worth of data that needs to be stored long term for case studies. They are going to need serious datacentres. As more things come online and become digital, datacenters are going to be the business to be in.

In the article description it says that wow is given away and then charged for by the month. How come for us they still make us buy the damn box? No matter what you still have to buy the original box to get an original key which is still up around $49AU. Then we still have to pay our $20 a month. They get the same game for free and then 4c an hour. What a rip. It just reminds me how they put region encoding on DVD's so they could sell them in asia for $4 and Aus for $30.

I wish I could buy a game and play it on my Linux desktop but I cant and I doubt that I ever will be able to... Unless windows becomes open source? But dont kill too many SWATS or the FBI will come after you and the Military. Then youll need to find a rocket launcher then a tank respectively.

I played wow to get in and play with all of my friends in a fun game online. And yes wow is probably the most fun game that i have ever played. Not because of the content but coz of the pplz.

So, why do I hate wow? Because All of my friends have raids scheduled 6 days a week. So the only way i can see them is to log on. Gone are the days of, hey guys lets go catch a movie, Or how bout we go rockclimbing after work. nope. Same response every time. Sorry man, gotta raid.

People who play console games, watch tv arent incapacitated for 4+ hours straight. Try calling some1 who is watching tv, usually they will talk to you, and you can convince them to do something. Not so for the wow addict.

So i say avoiding games where you have to play for 4+ hours straight is a good thing. *pat on the back* for all those who quit wow/evercrack.

dvd region codes are all about distribution chains... He who controls the distribution controls the profits, controls the price and controls the market. Why else do you think the coca-cola company controls all of the distribution in Australia? So they can sell water to you at $2 a bottle and no1 realises the absolute idiocy of it. Here we have a huge number of brands of bottled water, all of which bar 1 have been baught out by the coca cola company. THis is why region codes exist. So businesses can peddle their wares for the highest price they think that you are willing to pay.

If you try and stop scientists they will go underground and do this shit without telling any1. Trust me. Let me restate that this is not about creating a sentient mouse but a mouse with different cells. I mean WTF deal with ur own issues. If your wife/daugter/friend was dying of some congenital disease and this research could have saved them would you still have a problem. You eat KFC those chickens got more steroids and gene therapy than arnie. And you probably even have a pet, who was domesticated to serve your will. I dont care how much you love it. It wouldnt be ur dog if somewhere up the track it was taken away from its loving mother and bred specifically for a purpose. Oh selective breeding is not gene therapy? Bullshit. From what I hear most gaming companies are pricks. This is due to the large amount of grads available. Extremely high staff turnover of the entire industry. I say all game developers should band together on a hobby project and make the ultimate game and then divide the profits. Then when you have a 100+ team with $200M profits hey guess what? That 2Mil each. Wouldnt it be nice if the fuckers who were doing all the work got all the money. I hate project / Company managers. They all think the same way. "Hmmm we made $200 million of this game. Damn we are good. Every Senior executive gets a 2mil bonus. Hmmm we dont have enough projects to keep them working 70hr weeks. Fire enough people so every1 needs to work 70 hours. Thatll keep the efficiency up." I heard a good idea that was completely scoffed upon by corporate lobbies in australia. No company employee may be paid 20x more than the lowest paid employee or 10x more than the average wage. Whatever is higher. Doesnt that seem fair? Does a manager work harder than 20 staff? If they think so i would like to see them tell that to their faces. Fucking bullshit is all i can say. (Excuse my french)
