Wow! I bet streaming audio must suck! Since I didn't RTFA I don't know whether they're only talking about WMP or not, but playing MP3's over the network on Winamp results in crackly sound on my desktop. So yes, it does suck.

Or, you could download Autopatcher and get every update in one easy download. This also makes things wonderfully easy when you need to patch a fresh XP install, all you need is that disc to be completely up to date.

I also like the fact that WGA is clearly listed as "Optional" when choosing which components to install.

Do all PC gamers have an Xbox or like its controller?

That's not the point. Obviously game publishers are going to support multiple gamepads, but if I know plugging in a 360 controller will Just Work I'd be one happy camper.

Some games are just suited better to gamepads (or alternative inputs to the keyboard) but just don't work that well. Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory worked perfectly with a modded (original) Xbox controller, and I wondered "Why can't all games work this well?". The dual analogue sticks worked, and the buttons were easily configured. FIFA 2006 just WOULDN'T WORK with it, no matter how hard I tried, and it frustrated the hell out of me. Nobody's forcing you to use a gamepad, and I'll stick with a mouse for my FPS's, but you're taking a pretty short-sighted view of things.

Hydrogen based batteries will allow you to destroy the robot, but only if they are Sony-branded. Just bring it out of it's coupling and ram it down her gob and duck behind the nearest blast door.

Of course, all of this is for naught, because Judgment Day is inevitable. But you'll be richer for the experience, and it will give you some material for that novel you've been working on, so it's not all bad.

The federation is also considering using a new Chinese law that came into effect July 1 that fines distributors of illegally copied music, movies and other material over the Internet as much as 100,000 yuan ($12,500). As of today, Chinese search engines operated by Yahoo China and Baidu.com provide links to other Web sites hosting illegally copied songs.

The law says a Web site is jointly liable with the host of the pirated files for infringement ``if it knows or should know that the work, performance or sound or video recording linked to was infringing.''

I tried a couple of readers, and settled on RSS Owl because it was OS independent, which a scant few readers are (to the best of my knowledge). The problem with this was when when dual-booting, I couldn't see which feeds I'd already checked and which I hadn't, as this was organised client-side. Also, when I was at uni and had some time to kill, I had to check sites the "old-fashioned" way. So I switched to Bloglines. It constantly monitors feeds, and this is important for those feeds that only show the last 10 updated items; on a high volume site (such as Slashdot) this isn't enough. I ended up missing news items this way, which is not optimal.
