And, I have the choice to change the channel when TV commercials are on so that I don't have to watch their ads. In a sense I'm adblocking with the TV. Are the TV networks going to try and make TV manufacturers not allow channel changes during commercial breaks?
Yes! I'm so excited that ReBoot is returning. However the fans need to go to the Zeros2Heroes site so that we can help shape the new ReBoot how it is supposed to be!
I would probably go with one of the Grand Theft Auto games because they are huge and there is so much to do besides just the missions. I think San Andreas is the biggest so far, so I'd go with that. Some days I can play the story missions, and then on days when I'm bleeding because I stabbed myself in the foot trying to catch fish I can just go run over some pedestrians.
I chose that for long playability, but I'd like to have a Metal Gear Solid game, since I love the gameplay and the storyline and I think it could get me through some days stranded on an island.
Another choice would be Megaman Legends (1 or 2). The games are huge, fun, fairly open, and the story is pretty interesting.
So, let me get this straight... you are calling someone immature because he has a different view of politics than you? I'd say it was ironic, but this isn't an Alanis Morissette song. So I'll just say you are projecting, and maybe you should focus your criticism less on perceived "teeenaged psychology" and more on your "old guy" pedestal. Just because you can't properly defend your point and discuss the points of other people is no excuse to resort to ad hominem attacks. I know that it is considered so among teenagers on the intarweb, but I'd expect more from the mature adult you make a point of presenting yourself as.
Yeah this shouldn't be modded down. Chex Quest was an actual game and pretty hilarious too. Considering it came free in a box of Chex cereal it was amazing bang for the buck. I wouldn't mind a "next gen" sequel to it.
Competition is always good and if some genii from Google split off to form something worth our time, I'm sure we won't mind. Google maybe... but I don't work for them or own stock in them.
I'm a CS major at the University of Kansas. Here, in my Junior year, a required class was Software Engineering. In this class we were introduced to the development chain and exposed to two styles of programming methods (Unified Process and eXtreme Programming). We completed two projects in the semester (one per studied programming process) as well as learning about various tools available to software engineers. The best part was that the projects were small video games (a side-scrolling shooter and a 2D platformer) and so the class engaged the students like nothing I've ever seen otherwise.
While it's not as accurate as real world experience (our "client" was our TA), it did give a good idea for what was in store.
Holy crap! Don't these fools realize that the reason a lot of people download movies is because they don't want the greedy companies telling them how and where they can watch their movie. I've started only watching DVDs on my computer because I have a better monitor and speakers than my TV. So these fuckheads want to take that away from me? I actually don't download movies (I'd rather buy them on DVD or watch them in the theater), but if this happens widespead I'm going alpha-pirate on the MPAA.
What about falling back on good ol' human minds? When someone rates a movie the site should ask them why they rated it this way to narrow down certain characteristics. For example, if it is an action film and the user rates it poorly the questions could be:
"Was there too much violence in this film?" Y/N
"Did the plot seem too far fetched?" Y/N
"Was the overall production quality of this film (acting, special effects, editing) not to your liking?" Y/N
"Is this genre of film one you don't normally care for?" Y/N
Etc...
As long as the questions are yes/no and there are 10 questions or less, I'm sure users would be willing to answer them most of the time if they were aware that it was going to enhance the quality of movie selection for them.
And just because it is illegal does not make it immoral in itself.
Why should the consumer not have the right to preview music in order to sift out junk?
I download first and then buy the CDs for the great ones that I can afford and spend money on concerts for any band that comes around here that I've downloaded.

Meh, I'd rather someone made a Mobile Suit Gundam (Wing or the original, or hell even that one with a team of Gundams...) movie than this.
This is getting fucking ridiculous. It's time for a Revolution!

There's no half-assing it on Slashdot! Say the whole overused meme, damnit!
The goggles, they do nothing!

What's the motive for any computer virus that some nutjob throws out there?
if (race.black() || gender.female()) {return 0;}
Mod parent up! It is so true! It's not like it's a big truck, sheesh.

This time. It's personal.
Yeah because my grandma is just dying to start all over again and learn Linux.

How disappointing. Boo to quasi!

How fitting... one of mine died today. We barely knew ye.
