    Wanting a VM of Vista, I've installed it on a 15gb vm then changed to the disk to a dynamic
    disk, compressed it, then compressed it again to a .sfx to an overall size of just over 3Gb.

    Small enough to fit on a dvd-r for a portable vm of vista.

    Now I have to extract it onto the host computer but it doesn't extract to over 5Gb.

    An 8Gb memory stick would be even better.

    This is not true.


    Open it up and break it, that will void your warranty.

    Install Linux on the system and don't expect support for software.
    The hardware is a different story.

    obviously be pushing its own products for that
    platform.

    However, to give the semblence of non-preferance
    they will side with the better product for the
    term being.

    Norton used to be great. Remember those days? I am computer consultant for small and medium sized businesses and each time I see norton installed I suggest my clients to use an alternative. One client recently exclaimed "After I installed Norton, I ended dealing with Norton this, Norton that, I just want my computer to work." If Norton has an issue with a third party app, perhaps they should patch their software.

    Now, when I mentioned editing config files for
    Apache under windows you need to understand that
    windows carriage returns are not the same as
    unix, even with notepad (not wordpad).


    My real question was:

    How many of you installed apache under windows?

    config scripts under windows.

    windows?

    God what a waste of time.

    I remember using the wrong text editor and
    apache unable to read the config script. ARGGG....

    As if it wasn't hard enough to setup....
    and don't get me started on unix backslashes(/) vs windows forward slashes (\).

    Afterwards i found II's to be better at handling
    windows crash and burn schemes, if you're running
    windows, use II's and nothing else.

    But if you're serious about webserving:
    setup apache under *bsd or linux and go from there.

    The admins in this article are a little confused.
    Perhaps they should look at embedded linux for
    their webserving.
