Since http isn't a valid toplevel domain name, mozilla style browsers do a google search on http. Then it jumps to the first result which happens to be microsoft.com .
Oh, you weren't talking ASCII?:-) Larry now uses "Perl" to
signify the language proper and "perl" the implementation of it, i.e.
the current interpreter. Hence Tom's quip that "Nothing but perl can
parse Perl." You may or may not choose to follow this usage. For
example, parallelism means "awk and perl" and "Python and Perl" look
OK, while "awk and Perl" and "Python and perl" do not. But never write
"PERL", because perl is not an acronym, apocryphal folklore and post-
facto expansions notwithstanding.
Studies now say that Master of Fine Arts (MFA) is the new MBA since the current opinion is that creativity can't be taught. SO to be hip and trendy get an MFA!
Do you have any idea how many commitees have to come to a consensus to ratify anything? Beauracracy is like molassas. A year is crazy quick turn-around.
Anyway this article fails to mention that this tactic originatied with fans of the series, "the magnificent Seven" from the 90's. There's nothing scifi about that show.
Without a ruling, there is no precedent to stop companies in the future trying this same sort of crap. It has to go to trial and a verdict has to be issued to stop this from happening again and wasting more of the court's time. Besides we might not be lucky enough to find another company stupid enough to sue IBM.
To borrow from the tin-hat crowd (missing 13th amendment and all that), you make it to where if a politician accepts an illegal contribution, they are tried for an act of treason and lose their citizenship. Public hanging afterwards for all I care 'cause they've lost their rights.
Laws with teeth seem to be the politicos answer to keeping the rest of us in line. I see no reason not to point the dagger back and return the favor.
Wouldn't politicians have to vote for that though? I don't think they'll go for it.
Then we'd just be back to how it was before contributions were legal, all the money would change hands under the table. The whole point of haing contributions was to limit the scope of something that will happen anyway.
I' pretty sure people knock it because it's easy. Some people feel intimidated by things being made easier for the masses because they're afraid of being obsolete. A rather prominent greek philosopher came out against paper because he felt it'd be the downfall of society. Young people wouldn't bother to memorize things anymore and so and so forth. Many people attack PHP as a language that let's bad programmers make websites, so clearly they're talking about the downfall of programming civilization. Now php does have some syntax issues, but hopefully those'll get worked out before too long. I still think it makes a great first language for people to discover programming with.
No wonder this guy's not to fond of blog culture. Librarians are people who delight in seeing well referenced works that can be categorized and easily referenced. Most blogs are poorly referenced or use other blogs as evidence to support their opinions. It must be like listening to nails on chalkboards to read that sort of thing to them.
I think your math is faulty, in terms of board area 5x5 is 17% of the board, while 1/14 would be closer to 7%, and anyway as it's probably game theory trees 5x5 is likely a drop in bucket.
Believe me all my roommates are graphic designers and I'm an animator, so we all depend on a healthy advertising industry, but this huge backlash is the advertisers lying in the bed they made. The hyper commercialization of every part of our lives makes people feel helpless, now the internet let's consumers fight back. Obviously it's not that simple but I'd bet dollars to donuts that's a big part of the adblocking mentality.
Ehhh, there are plenty of things for high school kids to do besides working at grocery stores and McD's, take hard manual labor for example We have illegal immigrants for that!
I don't think people are asking what use this is because they're implying that it's useless. Most, myself included, probably feel there's a reason that the story has been posted to slahdot and, not knowing the significance of a mersenne prime, are hoping that others will tell them.
Arg! You don't need NAT meaning network address tranlation unless you have more than one system and a reason for masquerading. Firewalls are good/necessary but why must you refer NAT as the reason it's good? The feature you're really using is the packet filter.

No it's Akuma's slide move from Street Fighter
->, ->, jab, down + short kick , fierce punch is all you ever need.
I love it when I see celebrities on slashdot! And witha 4 digit ID no less. Learning Perl tought me to code. Sweet.
What's the difference between "perl" and "Perl"?
One bit.

The cool part is the camera can automatically upload the ensuing carnage to Fox's latest "When network-enabled stuffed animals attack."

Like E.E. Doc Smith's Lensman series or a bilion other awesome scifi pulps that were popular when they were little.
Clearly this shows that those who do watch Star Trek are loaded, though!

We'll stop bringing it up when both sides quit bringing up September 11th.

Damn it, guess my point was that I can't multiply...

That's just java script and a div tag that contains a flash element.

Yeah, I feel bad driving by the guys with signs like, "Will code for $food," and "Help out a Y2k Sysadmin."
