AT&T and Verizon are already pushing their own variety of IPTV.
The cable companies would rather you watch tv using their existing services (timewarner cable / comcast / etc)
Are there any big ISPs left that would even try to use this "ZillionTV" box as a way to get new customers or to get more money from their existing customers?
C) You figure out some way to get some funding together - I'd suggest a university with good contacts in the so-called "science-friendly" Obama administration (Its only been a few weeks, we'll see how science friendly this administration turns out to be) and put together a better open-source alternative.
Either way, the tool has limited use, so it will require money, even for the "free" options.

I thought that comment was referring to MMORPGs on consoles, not MMORPGS in general, and WoW hasn't been released for any consoles.
I'm a troll because I don't care if you enjoy pot, and advocate working to change the law instead of breaking it?
Assaulted by cops? Jail the cop. Period. Every time. There is no justification for violence by thugs with badges, ever.
Arrested, without violence? Let the system work. Most of the time it does.
And "civil disobedience" is simply breaking the law to draw attention to yourselves and whatever cause you think you're standing for. That doesn't generate any sympathy from me (unless you manage to get a cop to assault you...in which case my interest ends only in jailing the cop). There are better ways to draw attention and gather support for your cause.
I want marijuana to be legalized. The whole war-on-drugs is a load of bullshit clogging the justice system. I just don't think that breaking the law and then crying about it is the best way to accomplish that goal.
But hey, I don't toke up with you, so I must be against you, right?
I don't particularly care about people smoking pot, or people not smoking pot. But *right now* it is not legal. Don't like the law? Think it is a bad law? Fine. Work to change it. But in the mean time, don't get busted smoking it and expect any sympathy for you or your cause from me.
Waiting a full day would drive me nuts. I'd be checking my watch/clock/phone/whatever constantly to see if it was time to find out if it worked. It'd be worse than expecting something via UPS/FedEX -- at least with those you can check the tracking number to find out approx. progress.
Most natural disasters affect the poor more than any others. The more wealthy usually have either better living conditions that can survive the event, or the means to leave the area. Or both.
Like you said -- dams prevent flooding (until they fail). Which just means the poor escape one disaster and replace it with another. It still sucks to be poor. Always has, always will.
Slight nit-pick. It doesn't take a whole lot of power to do VHF/UHF line-of-sight to (or from) low-earth-orbit. Especially if the receiving end has a) a good receiver b) a good antenna (or antenna system) or c) some combination of both, which, IIRC, the ISS does.
The fact that its a wet sub STILL doesn't matter. He's on earth. There's gravity. Being in the water, wet, doesn't magically mean that gravity no longer applies. Even being neutrally buoyant, his heart still has to pump blood against gravity.
Its been my experience that IT and admin types are more open to change than end users. Sure, they bitch and moan amongst themselves, but they usually don't raise the type of hell that results when the rest of the staff has to adapt to a change.
So a business might be more open to dropping their (quite pricey) exchange server in favor of this, IF their end users don't see any difference while using Outlook, which they already "know".
Being underwater while in a submarine is nothing like a zero-g environment. Just ask any number of men who have served in submarines around the world. Several countries have missile subs that spent 3+ months at a time submerged.
Astronauts use water tanks for training because they allow a greater range of movement, but the only reason it works is because everything that needs those degrees of freedom is adjusted to be neutrally buoyant, but they are not experiencing zero-g.
In other words, we (the people) should (according to Obama) want Congress to be his rubber stamp, instead of the previous administration being Congress's rubber stamp.
Honestly, I'd prefer them to argue and compromise, instead of either branch running roughshod over the other. That whole checks and balances bit, if it hasn't been completely thrown out with the rest of the constitution.
Why do people want to do EVERYTHING with their cell phone? Not trolling, I just don't understand the desire to have a cell phone do everything except wipe your butt for you. I sort of understand the Japanese, since their culture has a special place for gadgets -- but why the expectation that since it was popular there, it should be popular everywhere?
Besides, with the inability of people to keep track of their phones, do you really want whoever finds / steals your phone to buy a bunch of stuff in addition to running up a big list of international calls, all for you to pay for?
blah blah blah... the Star Trek approach of tackling them head-on.
Ok, I like almost all of the Star Trek franchises, but... really? The closest they came to tackling moral quandries was Picard looking distressed for his "I'm going to ignore the prime directive" monologues. Yes, Star Trek touched on topics that were edgy for its time. But they didn't really tackle any moral quandries. Star Trek looked at them, brushed past them, and moved on.
You're telling me that "may not be great" is good enough. I say to hell with that. I want better, I can pay for better, and I'm willing to pay for better. But, and this is the the part that most non-us-ians don't understand -- I don't want more government, in any way, shape or form.
I understand that a government run program will provide some baseline of services, but settling for "good enough" is not something many US citizens like. Especially those of us who pay taxes, and would end up footing the bill for everyone else, in return for diminished services. In other words: pay more, get less.
I'm by no means "upper class", but the only people who like this idea are those that don't pay anything now anyway -- either already on the government dole in some form, or that are still living on mommy's and daddy's money.

Read slashdot a bit. You'll see many people who dislike the "awesomebar" and several more who outright hate it.
Three options:
A) You pony up for a license, like they want.
B) You find something else and pay for a license.
C) You figure out some way to get some funding together - I'd suggest a university with good contacts in the so-called "science-friendly" Obama administration (Its only been a few weeks, we'll see how science friendly this administration turns out to be) and put together a better open-source alternative.

Penny slots + free drinks = cheap evening out.

I DON'T care what you do.
But if you get busted, I won't have sympathy for you. That is all.
Include me in the bunch that thinks less of him.

Sigh.
Neat idea though.
Flooding kills poor people.

With that much power and gain, are you talking Earth-Moon-Earth or Earth-Mars-Earth?
I know which one I'd want to try, although the trick would be finding a similarly gainful antenna that can see Mars at the same time.
They didn't use an off-the-shelf Yaesu/Icom/Kenwood/Alinco/whatever, but it still could have been amateur radio.

I have a rock that repels tigers.
See any tigers around? No? It works!
I would have expected it to have a bit more memory with that many processors.

As the saying goes..
Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
s/boss/puppet/ if you prefer.
Do you think the media would allow anything less from the one they've appointed to be the next messiah?
Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. Or in this case, meet the new puppet, same as the old puppet.
Yes, I think a good portion of Americans realize at least "a" and those of us that have traveled are aware of "b".
Don't underestimate the power of movies and advertisements though.
Toyota owner. Not worth the $ for a chintz up Toyota. Luxury is not spelled Lexus. (nor Toyota, but at least thats not their advertising)
Don't talk crap?
