I wouldn't worry about finding specific apps that are "safe" for a 6-month old. At that age, no parent should even consider letting their child use an Internet-connected device unsupervised. So, if yo show the child something on the web browser, or another app, you should know specifically what you're looking at and should be 100% comfortable with the material.
I didn't know Bing was a map application. I thought Bing was that guy that was tap dancing with Danny F**king Kaye on the hap-hap-happiest Christmas ever with those jolly bunch of a**holes at the Griswold's?:-)
I disagree that China will be the world's largest economy. First of all, let's not neglect India. Secondly, what we're seeing today is an equilibrium effect taking place, as China and India make gains to catch up and Europe and North America give a little. It will all eventually settle, and we'll have three dominant world economies: Asia, Europe, and the Americas (North and South).
This is the major reason I got an iPad. It works really well to put papers in Dropbox on the pc and view them on the iPad. Tough I may check out iAnnotate for the annotation capability.
This is significant, because if you look at the list, Titan only has about 500,000 cores, versus 1.5 million cores on Sequoia. The overall increase in peta-FLOPS isn't that much, but the fact that Titan did this with only about 1/3 the cores as Sequoia IS significant.
This doesn't even meet the broad definition of news, much less news for nerds. Slashdot, you're disappointing me. All this means is that a bunch of random retards in predominantly southern states have figured out how to create an online petition on the White House website and are crapflooding them. Even the GNAA is disappointed at this. Wake me if these nutjobs manage to convince a Governor or State Legislature to draft articles of secession.
I personally know several professors who will not accept citing Wikipedia.
You shouldn't cite Wikipedia for the exact same reason that you shouldn't cite Encyclopedia Britannica. Both are tertiary references, and it's preferred to cite the primary or secondary source. If you haven't figured this out by the time you reach college, you need to go back to high school.
There's also a huge difference between "citing Wikipedia" in term papers and "using Wikipedia" in your research. I fully support Professors that ban citing Wikipedia. But I completely support students that want to use Wikipedia as a good starting point to their research on a given topic.
With shows like Toddlers & Tiaras and Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, I think kids should be as far away from TV as possible, whether they are in front of or behind the camera. Add to that the recurring theme that most "child stars" seem to end up later in life with major drug and/or alcohol problems,. ..
Actually, for real. Has anyone considered networking a couple hundred old iPhones or Android phones together to form some sort of beowulf cluster of them?
I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened.
Not sure if I'd agree on that. One of the strengths of Wikipedia is that it allows a large number of editors to add information to the same place quickly. While there's certainly a lot of vandalism, particularly in the first few days of breaking news, things do stabilize and there is a wealth of well-cited information about such topics. Just look at articles about Hurricane Katrina, the Virginia Tech Massacre, or the recent Colorado shooting. It's also interesting to note that the article about Barack Obama has achieved "featured article" status (supposedly the highest level of quality on Wikipedia), and the articles about Joe Biden and Mitt Romney are both at the "good article" level of quality.
Somebody might want to check with the RIAA to see whether the Romney campaign properly licensed the use of the Air Force One soundtrack for their campaign. Recall in 2008 that several artists were a little ticked off when McCain started using their music in the campaign without talking to them,. ..
Great idea! "And don't forget. Friday, is Hawaiian Shirt Day! So if you want, you can wear a Hawaiian shirt,. . . and jeans,. .." Don't forget the new cover sheet on your TPS reports!
The consolation prize for the contestants that don't make it is a contract with Google. After, of course, being publicly humiliated by Steve Ballmer by having him throw a chair at you.
I use Facebook for personal stuff, and LinkedIn for professional and job-related stuff. Both are separate.

For $1900 you could get a decent MacBook Pro, no crapware installed! Don't waste that kind of money on Windows (any version),...
I thought there was something funny about my Appel iPADD,. . .

And today, you can take a photo of actual boobs using your iPhone, and get arrested!
"I'm a contractor, and for the State of Alaska,..."
"They are worthless, and I literally got A+ so I'd be "qualified" to plug in a mouse."
The good news is that you already have more qualifications than the former Governor.

We better get moving! It's already 2012 and the game ends in 2050!

At the rate Microsoft is going, they might as well add a "Windows 8 opt-out feature."
I know this is a joke, but yes, they do, It's called "downgrade rights"

Damnit! I knew Obama shouldn't have written the Affordable Care Act in Comic Sans!
