Since this probably means that game producers will be able to put their games on flash drives instead of CDs and DVDs, it would be even more convenient than having a backup disk.
That, and they'd be able to shrink down the size of game boxes again, from dvd size to, dare I say it, cigarette pack sized. Your next video game could be dispensed by a vending machine.
Artists have said as much for thousands of years. But that's because the definition of "porn" most people use is "anything that offends me or has naked people in it or has sex implied in it."
Chill out dude, it's a fucking video game. And a brilliant one at that. Ignoring reality does not, will not, and has not ever helped anyone. If you're going to build a case for abandoning steam, you need to acknowledge that the games made by Valve are phenomenal.
In regards to the comparison between Fascists and DRM, I will only say this: We oppose DRM not because it is DRM, but because it is bad. If DRM could be designed without flaws, and if it comes with phenomenal software that does not suffer from its presence, then it is not bad in that sense. YOU are free to oppose it simply because it is DRM. You are not, however, the pinnacle of human intellect and logic because of your stubborn refusal to yield any ground for debate.
slave society to international interests? Since when is the small minority a "slave" to the whims of the people they've been exploiting for decades? Was Ramses a "slave" to the Jews' interests when he sent his army after them into the red sea?
The only thing this society is a SLAVE to is the reality of how economics works. You HAVE to play fair with the community of the world to get a fair trade. If you exploit them, you will get inferior goods out of your deals.
If all of the parts were built using the global free market that America helped create, then it's American, dammit.
Stop acting like our border is an economic Berlin Wall.
"Made in America" is a term used to describe products that are built here, whether their parts come from elsewhere or not.
Is a man less of an American if his parents were German? No. So don't act like it's not 100% made in America. if it were, we wouldn't be living in a free country.
They'll be back, I think, with something else. There's plenty of reasons for a corporate entity to want to provide customized phones to its employees, or to give them out as a promotion, or stuff like that.
I have an old game called Emperor of the Fading Suns that can't be installed from the CD anymore.
Why? Because the first thing it attempts to do in the installer, is to install DirectX 3.
Thankfully, the game has become abandonware and is available for free via the internet in a nice little package that installs the game without that small detail.
But even then, the CD is valuable because it contains the soundtrack. I've never really been pissed about not being able to install it from the CD, because there was always some way to get it to work.
Reminds me of my own solution to the Gabriel's Horn problem. That's the "infinite surface area, finite volume" problem, if you needed to jog your memory.
My teacher explained the paradox by saying that it would be like something that would take an infinite amount of paint to paint the inside of it, but it would be able to hold a finite amount of paint.
I quickly pointed out that this was only true if paint were not made out of molecules. At some point, you can no longer put any more paint on the surface, because the molecules are too big to place there.
Of course, if you were to ignore that fact, and only look at the mathematical side, I also pointed out that you could paint the surface of the horn with a single very thinly sliced proton.
you know you can knock the turrets over with other turrets and boxes, right? you can also open a portal underneath two of them and take them both out at once.
I was responding to your first line, really. "I typically don't like Sci-Fi themed RPG's." Can you name for me, all those flops you're thinking of? I bet they're all MMO's.
I can think of Fallout 1 & 2, the KOTOR series, System Shock and sequel, Anarchy Online, Tabula Rasa, Shadowrun, and many others and don't know a single sci-fi themed RPG that doesn't make the cut of great games. The "demographic" I was speaking of was the long list of people who loved those games and showed it. There are plenty of people who don't like those games. They don't play them. Nor do they ever say "I typically don't like Sci-Fi themed RPG's."
Maybe I'm just an uncultured youngun, I suppose, but I can't help but notice your username is quite appropriate.
the only few that exist are all critically acclaimed and have won multiple awards across multiple categories.
If the idea of another doesn't pique your curiosity, then you're nowhere near the demographic that they're targeting so I'd suggest going to hello kitty online adventures for your gaming instead. You can thank me later.
precisely. technology doesn't breed crime it exposes it. The mastermind criminals of today are very well known. The only problem is the government's red tape.
And the fact that the criminals are the government.
Apparently you missed the point. The offensive coordinator for the patriots was caught filming the other team's coordinators in order to "cheat." It was really only news for football fans, because we all thought it was quite funny they made such a big deal of it when they fined him.
It was almost as bad as banning the coach from looking over to the other side of the field.

Better that than the alternative.
But the real lesson to be learned here is buyer beware.
If you buy into a reviewer's opinion, make sure you can afford it.
All hail the FSM?
Or is that not the porn you're thinking of?
So that means with this technology, we can make a gun that we fire once a year to keep the earth fully powered?
Awesome.
That's because they think they can't admit that they know anything about computers or they'll look less like a jock.
Artists have said as much for thousands of years.
But that's because the definition of "porn" most people use is "anything that offends me or has naked people in it or has sex implied in it."
Is it any wonder that porn has done so much?
You godwin'ed me over fucking STEAM?

It would appear that they'e sold out of phones.
And yet they're quitting development?
DOES NOT COMPUTE!
They'll be back, I think, with something else. There's plenty of reasons for a corporate entity to want to provide customized phones to its employees, or to give them out as a promotion, or stuff like that.
It's too cool a gadget idea to throw away.

It's all 1's and 0's, right?
As much as I'd love to support your cause, Portal is worth it.
Valve may be greedy and evil, but if they keep making games as good as Portal, I don't care.
That's just the vertical portion of the vector, you insensitive clod!

Well, America would have called them pedos as well, since she's not legal until 18 here.
;)
Yup.
Say all you want about our border ending here, you know as well as anyone else that America doesn't care.
you know you can knock the turrets over with other turrets and boxes, right? you can also open a portal underneath two of them and take them both out at once.
Also, rich people downhill since the first half-millionaire.
$640K should be enough for anybody.
You haven't figured out how to undo/save in chess yet?

It's like a cheap horror movie.
RUN BITCH RUN! The torrent is coming from inside the house.

And the fact that the criminals are the government.
Because they're Intelligent materialistic, elitist assholes.

I'm not seeing that as scary.
It's not like the New England Patriots are prone to spying.
oh, wait.
