on-line life will make our children more creative than us
As an experienced parent, I find my kids only interest in the internet is for finding online games. I believe the effect of computer and gameboy games is that kids are actually less creative nowdays. They seem to be totally incapable of entertaining themselves without a computer or some kind of gameboy. They also have very little interest in any kind of outdoor physical activity.
Since the silica coating will prevent water droplets from condensing on glass wouldn't that also prevent frost from freezing on a windshield? Of course that would require coating the outside of the windshield.
As of right now, the ClearCase build-audit feature is unreliable. My project spent months working with Rational to resolve hundreds of various ClearCase issues. We tried to use ClearMake with the GNU compatibility mode just for the build-audit feature. Rational tried but couldn't fix the problems with it so we were forced to revert back to GNU Make.
Another issue I had with Rational was that they created a modified version of GNU Make which ClearMake uses but they refuse to share their code changes.
I would have thought that if the government was under the impression that Microsoft was a monopoly (true or not), they would have taken steps to help prevent adding to that situation
You're confusing the Bush Administration with the Clinton Administration. Janet Reno, under the Clinton Adminstration, spent years trying to convict Microsoft. Then Bush gets elected and John Ashcroft refuses to impose any penalties. It's as if no trial every took place.
On a lighter note, the next time someone calls and asks for the lady of the house, I'm considering saying "speaking" instead of "there is none," just to see if the caller plays along or gets freaked out.
I still have several hundred floppies and I've found that over half of the ones 10+ years old are unreadable. Even many 5 that are only years old are unreadable.
If someone were to make a list of all the websites out there which offer known spyware, I could then load that list into adblock for firefox....Ok, I'm not sure that idea would work but maybe something along that line might.
Compuserve could have been the biggest company in the world if they'd just realized that market share was everything.
Very true. Until about the time AOL appeared, Compuserve was even requiring new users to purchase their access software for $25. The boxed kit included nothing more than a floppy disk and a very sparse user manual. In the beginning, they were the only nationwide ISP around and took full advantage of their monopoly.
BTW, My claim to fame is that I personally brought down Compuserve in Atlanta once by trying to email a 25Mb file.
It's the same reason Compuserve is such a non-player on the Internet. The industry shifted out from underneath them.
It's more like because AOL bought them in 1997 and pretty much ruined their business. Most Compuserve customers at the time were very loyal to them and after the AOL purchase hundreds of thousands literally dropped them overnight, myself included.
While the humor was to deride both microsoft and gentoo I do wish him good luck. I am far more interested in microsoft "playing nice" then I am hoping for their destruction
we are changing the command line environment in Windows using a new object-oriented command line technology, code-named 'Monad,' that will exceed what has been delivered in Linux and Unix for many years. It will take three to five years to fully develop and deliver

> the answer is clear, Chinese youth don't watch MTV
Nor do they have PS2's, XBox's, gameboys, etc. They probably don't even have TV's.
Great! So now we'll get blue screens of death during bootup.
Or dead:

or say "he's not here right now" :)
This really scares me why the media arm of the Whitehouse is interested in a "Social Networking" blogging website.
I first read that as security through obscenity and tried to imagine how that would work.

You dare to suggest using a Microsoft product? Even if it's free, I shudder at the thought.

Because they turned me down as a beta tester back in 1992 - true story
Not me, I'm hoping for their destruction.
In other words, this is vaporware.
You obviously voted for this congress so what are you bitching about?
Do they still have World Fairs? That's the biggest surprise to me.
Note: Google now has screenshots and Microsoft has only stated that MSN Virtual Earth service is to debut in the summer.
The next time that I'm asked to sign a petition, I think I'll ask to see an ID of the petitioner.
Hmmm, except for the cricket, you have the same crap on TV as here in the US.
MS Bob for Linux?
until it's on TV.
