  1. This is good news... on Microsoft Open Document Standard Not So Open · · Score: -1, Troll

Now we know that the .doc .xls etc formats will work between all versions MS Office and any Open Source Office program. No need to worry about code changes from early and later version. Good job on this one M$ /appluads

Anyone who uses linux to begin with is a mad coder anyways, shouldnt be a problem to slap in some real-time audio code and plugins. Most linux users could do that in the morning during their bathroom break w/ the paper in one hand and laptop in the other hand running vim.

  7. Re:my wish list is an alternative. on Flash EULA Doesn't Fit the Times · · Score: -1, Troll

Asking for an decent opensource alternative for any piece of commercial software is like asking for a pretty turd in the toilet. It's not going to happen. The opensource community is great at reinventing the wheel (over and over and over... etc.. etc..), but when it comes to invotation, the opensource community is worthless. OSS people ask for handouts all the time because they cannot do what the companies with money can do. It will always be this way and it will never change.

  8. Corprate use. on Flash EULA Doesn't Fit the Times · · Score: 2, Informative

Do not forget to mention that the latest flash plug-in is not legal for use within a corporation. You must pay to use the client, and their price is not what you call competitive. The same thing everyone is talking about here applies to corporate use as well, meaning it can only be installed on one corporate machine. Flash is the devil, if you work in IT make sure any apps you use do not use flash. I would also recommend that no one flash at all on any website. Macromedia is worse than Microsoft in the licensing department. I'm not going to mention what company I work for, but there are rumors that macromedia is demanding to be paid an undisclosed amount for every machine that has flash player on it here.

  9. simple on Updating Free Software in the Enterprise? · · Score: 0

If you want to easily update and distrubte these updates.. you can do so with AD group policy. You will have to repackage the software with msi and do updates with mst files. The only real drawback is the machines imo, need to 100% exact for this to work properly. although it can work without it being exat it is however muych easier though.

Now the article does not go into great detail.. so I can not make a firm stance. However.. as it stands I would side 100% with HP. These 33 retards signed a contract with an outside company to work there, they get paychecks from this company not HP. I have done contract work for about 7 years.. you take the crappy contracts along with the good ones. The last contract I worked on for a little over a year. I worked just as hard and as many hours as my co-workers. Does that entitle me to their benefits vacation etc?? hell no. I made 50-60% more money an hour then each of them.. I made more money then my supervisor. Why should I be entitled to the same benefits they had? This same crap happened to Microsoft a few years back as well. Its absurd, If I were HP, the contractors would be let go right now lawsuit or not. I hope these 33 employees get stuck with the lawyer costs after they lose the suit. Maybe thne other contract retards will not bother to get this idea.
