how many of us ask friends and family if they can recommend an *average* doctor? No, we ask for a good doctor...and while the doctor may in fact be average...that is generally unknown to us. I wouldn't accept a software doctor that was known to be average!
The idea is to use speech to do complex stuff or answer questions that would take multiple screen based input steps....
"order me a pizza" (phone leverages location data, payment data, etc to order) "how long will it take me to drive to Frank's house from here?" (phone responds with time/mileage/cost) "When was the last time Mike called? (phone responds with date/time/call length etc.) "play me some Jay-Z music" "add an appointment for next Wednesday to see the doctor at 8am, alert me the day before"
This is the kind of stuff that Apple is hopefully aiming for.
good thing it's not about less energy....wouldn't that be terrible.
tips to reduce energy - efficient lights w/ auto on/off - more home insulation - efficient electronics / deep sleep mode - don't use the AC/Heat as much - smaller fridges/freezers - smaller ovens - smaller homes - more natural light
you laugh, but unfortunately, most rental agreements specify exactly this...not allowing you to have guests more than a number of consecutive days (often a week) and no long term residents, even if they are family members, unless they are on the lease or under 18 yrs.
Well, regardless of right or wrong, it will be interesting to see the outcome of the people who take him up on his offer...2 yrs out...10 yrs out...20 yrs out. It's a good social experiment.
Just wondering if the average tech illiterate knows what they are choosing by saying they prefer matte over glossy in a phone or online survey. A better experiment would be to present them with two options...laptops with matte screens and laptops with glossy screens...and see which they select.
Kind of like capitalism. Oh, wait, they're selecting glossy?
I like (generous) data caps, they insulate >95% of us from the 5% who use massive amounts of data and drive costs up. I don't want a socialist phone company model where the masses subsidize the usage of the few.
Now I pay $25/month for my 2GB of data on AT&T. Before they introduced data caps, the only option was $30/month for unlimited data. I prefer it this way. It's cheaper, and I never ever come close to hitting my limits.
in Israel they hire intelligent, ex-military (everyone is ex-military) personnel to interview each and every passenger who is flying from their airports. The interviews only take 2-3 minutes per person, may be intense at times, but they are effective because they are watching how you respond to their questions and stress. If they detect something is wrong, they investigate further. They also use ethnic profiling. If we weren't such pansies here in the US..we'd do the same.
There are no ridiculous scans.
Too bad we can't hire intelligent people to do something like this. Instead we have the TSA who must rely on technology over training/brains.
At $200-$300...who cares if it's effective. Buy it for the guy. And never never take it away with out permission.
If I tell you I'm more productive with coffee. Buy me coffee. If it's coke, buy me coke.
Why to companies piss off their employees for pocket change?
BTW...there are numerous studies that show productivity goes up with a second monitor. If I had a second monitor, I would have found references for you.
I think alot of this has to do with building up a positive brand image of MSFT...making it less boring and better known to the upcoming generation... they're already on that path with XBOX, Kinect, Ford Sync, Bing...and now Skype.
Perhaps they are waiting for us to finalize our designs for our Back to the Moon missions so that they can finally start building their ships. I doubt they want to replicate our Apollo Era technology at this point.

1. Take all these emails and post them your very own blog! ....
2. Advertise on your blog!
3.
4. Get rich.
I'm less likely to tolerate security risks on a phone...a device I have with me at all times...that I want to use without thinking that much.
I'm willing to put more resources into my PC/Mac to keep it up and running and secure.
What stuff have you had (from Windows/Linux) for years exactly?
Seems like most of what they introduced is either new or much better conceived/integrated than the existing options.

we data/text mining researchers are mostly funded by government grants...we're not likely to access, let alone use, stolen data in any traceable way.

More to the point...we will ALWAYS have problems at home. So the question is...should we...or should we not go to space. I saw we should.
Iran and the US have been at a low level state of war for a while now. This is nothing new. Only the method is new.

WRT your sig...
Your dial up might as well provide 100TB of data...it's immaterial after the few GB.
Whereas with Verizon Wireless...

I'd gladly take my car in to be bricked, if they'd give me a brand new one with a year of free maintenance thrown in!
BTW...don't think the MSFT update removed any features. To the contrary, they've added feature after feature with their updates since 2005.

Yea, price out the terrorists with more expensive flights.

we had drug trials in my school...and even when you couldn't afford them....someone was there to give you some for free
hard to understand why someone will pay $500 for a web browser appliance when they can spend $500 and get a real computer/netbook.
I find this ramp up to be critical in order to support my day of reading news online, checking email, and updating facebook.
they're buying the brand and subscriber base....

I'd buy a current gen Wii if only it had HD output. That's the only limiting factor for me.

Wonder how the buying robots (i.e. inventory replenishment, etc.) will react to the run-away pricing robots...in this fully automated loop!
