I think I used the wrong word when I said asymmetrical. I meant that modern computers are (for the most part) not meant to run with chips of multiple architectures.
RTFA, friend. The problems didn't arise from the fact that there were three processors. The difficulties arose because the chips were of different architectures. From TFA:
The problems are due to two processors types that are very different. Although both run at a 2.2 GHz clock speed, the single- core Opteron 248 is based on the 130 nm Sledgehammer design, while the dual-core Opteron 275 is a 90 nm Venice dual- core chip.
Again, it has nothing to do with the fact that there are three processors. And it's not the software developers' fault--computers were not meant to be set up asymmetrically.
What about for defense purposes? For instance, since the US is in Iraq, would it be possible to coat a tank or other type of fighting vehicle with this paint to have it give off a "shimmer" similar to the ambience of the desert? It seems to me that paint that changes based on its surroundings may be showing on future military vehicles.
He faces a felony count of forgery and two misdemeanor counts of theft.
I find it interesting that forgery was the charge that carries the greatest clout. Looks like he would have been better off if he just stuck the iPod under his jacket. It almost seems like he's being punished more for subverting the store's security system than for the actual theft of the property. Is it normal to charge a bar-code switcher with forgery? In the lego case it seems as if he was charged with theft rather than forgery.
Either way, you're right...he's going to have a tough time finding a job after college with this on his record...
What it is saying is that the archeopterix has features that are VERY similar to a dinosaur's, yet very similar to a bird as well. Therefore this is the ever-so-elusive "transitional species" that creationists have been asking for (others exist, but this is one that they would almost always point to). Though it was already essentially proven that this was indeed a transitional species, this provides even MORE evidence and is therefore the proverbial "icing on the cake."
To answer your question about birds and archaeopteryxes (spelling?) coexisting, I would ask you the following: how come we haven't found ANY fossils of modern birds? If they were to have coexisted, there should be SOME fossils of modern birds that could be dated to that period. All modern birds, however, have been found to be from more recent times and, as time goes on, their features depart linearly from that of the archaeopteryx. So, while it may be possible that they existed at the same time, such a situation would mean that ALL of the scientific evidence that we currently have would be wrong and that the pattern of developement would be a total coincidence. That, quite frankly, I have a hard time believing.
Also, note that IANAB (I am not a biologist). Please correct me if I have facts incorrect.

That's very true...cedega will attract more users in the short term
What about in the long term, however? Something to think about: Does Cedega cause some gaming companies to refrain from providing a native Linux port for their games because they run "well enough" on Cedega? As you probably know, gamers are also into hardware: they need the fastest possible performance. Therefore, there is an advantage to playing games natively in Windows. If these games aren't ported to Linux, then we could see gamers move right back to windows.
I don't hate cedega--I use it. Just providing some food for thought.
Honestly, this scares the hell out of me. If it's two consenting adults, who the hell cares? I should be able to poop on my wife's face and put it on the internet if I want to. It doesn't matter if we both agree. And you have a very good point: what is deviance? At first, it's poop, then it's hardcore, then it's softcore, then nudity altogether.
I completely understand banning child pornography because it hurts children. However, if I'm an adult, I can do what I want. It's the American way.
That's precisely the point!!!! That they never have to install windows! What I'm trying to say is that Dell needs to preinstall linux for it to gain desktop usage.
Plus, I don't take well to being called "you guys." I'm an avid Linux user and open source advocate and have been for years.
I always find it funny how the right always brings up God and Jesus on issues such as gay marraige and creationism, but, when it comes to issues such as civil liberties and Guantanomo Bay, it would seem that God is to be left out of the picture...
That's interesting...whenever I installed ubuntu, it had issues with the fact that I had a vga-Out (I think), so X Windows wouldn't work at all on my laptop's monitor. I had a newer card (Radeon X700), so that may have caused a problem.
I'm not saying that Linux is necessarily more difficult to install, just that it's something that Joe Normal doesn't want to go through.
That's true, but the point is that the person who purchased the laptop will have the customized installation CD. They aren't going to want to attempt to get something as simple as X windows working...
I had to edit xorg.conf just to get X to start. I couldn't get Ubuntu totally working, so I switched to Gentoo. As of now, Gentoo works great (except for suspend-to-ram and the onboard cardreader), but that was after recompiling the kernel to include Software Suspend 2 and a few other bits. I'm a huge Linux advocate, but I still think it needs to go a long way before it's ready for a home user. I can't call up my grandfather and tell him to recompile his kernel and make sure he includes Software Suspend 2 rather than the integrated software suspend. As unstable and shaky as Windows is, it works out-of-the-box. In my opinion, two things need to happen before Linux hits the desktop mainstream:
1. Vendors start providing a pre-installed Linux distribution with the PC. Not just the smaller vendors, but popular ones such as Gateway, HP and the like. People aren't going to want to install another OS if their current OS works.
2. Linux "just works" for laptops. Though Ubuntu works immediately on my desktop, laptops still have issues. People aren't going to take kindly to the fact that their onboard cardreader isn't going to work because the drivers haven't been written.
Those are just my thoughts on the situation. I'd love to see Ubuntu gain a widespread audience; I think that people would love the package manager.
The reason that this happens is because video games stimulate dopamine, and it's difficult to itially stop playing and, when you do, you become "keyed-up." However, watching Antiques Roadshow has the same effect, thought to a lesser extent. So if we're going to ban video games, I think that those violence-loving ETV bastards should take the plunge as well.
I assume that is a joke, but it's pretty much true. I've actually seen a big catfish snap up a duckling at one point. There are also reports of catfish eating small dogs and other unlucky mammals who decided to take a swim.
Catfish (I'm not sure if this is true with Asian catfish) will bite the living HELL out of you if you let them.
True, but the computer industry is very different than the car industry.
People use cars for one reason: to drive around. If you know how to drive a Ford, then you can drive a Chevy, a Corvette, or any other car. In the case of computers, however, software developers must develope their applications specifically for the OS. While it is true that most consumers don't care about whether they check their email on windows or linux, what happens when their also computer-illitarate friend tells them about the "awesome new tax software" that he discovered? Because of operating system differences, it's not really possible.
Also, we're forgetting one huge section of the PC market: pimply-faced 15-year-old youths who claim to be "gamers." They do care what operating system they're using. They need the latest drivers for their video cards and need to have a basic knowledge of how to tweak their games. Currently, companies like ATI and nVidia, while they do provide Linux drivers, focus mainly on Windows software. Also, game development for the different operating systems is drastically different. Today's game developers don't know how to develop for Linux, and probably don't care. These little kids aren't going to switch to Linux until they can play games online with their friends.
That's just my take. IANACOSMANDICTB (I am not a comsumer OS market analyst, nor do I claim to be) but, as much as I hate to admit it, I just don't see Linux going mainstream in the desktop world anytime soon.
Yeah, the ACLU hates Christians.
Are Linux/OS X/BSD/Solaris, etc. affected by this limitation?

Microsoft doesn't keep its products virus-free...why shouldn't they do the same with their employees? :-)

"...people see the EFF, ACLU, NCAA and other organizations that have anything..."
I knew that the Man was attacking free speech and rights to privacy...but college athletics?
This is a new low for the oppressive forces of society.
You show flash animations parodying Linux at your family reunions?
I'm not criticizing you or anything...your family must be different than mine.

Did you hear? Robots eat old people's medicine for fuel!
There is an alternative: Liberty Robot Insurance. It protects against any and all robot attacks.
Thank God for Liberty Robot Insurance. Thank God for Sam Waterston.
