    I remeber reading once in physics world (institue of physics magazine) that some one had propsoed a huge methane explosion as the reason for the tunguska blast because it explained the lack of debris and the wired lights in the sky a few days before, maybe if the permafrost melts this might become a regular event?

    I hope it works because our MP's aren't looking out for our rights. My own MP http://www.theyworkforyou.com/mp/tom_levitt/high_p eak Tom Tevitt, always votes the party line never rebels or sponsors a bill and costs us >£100000 a year in expenses (not including salary).

    The UK doesn't have separation of church and state, the queen is the head of the church of england but it seems from reading slashdot that it produces a lot less crazy types than the US

    apparently scientists can manipulate atoms to make entirely new molecules which could be disasterous in the hands of terrorists, despots, slashdotters etc CHEMISTRY! on an related note all you need to do in the UK get more funding from EPSRC (engineering and physical science research council) is to add nano- to whatever your doing, which can be kind of annoying if you are doing nanotech research rather than just trying to cash in
