    It's called a karma system.

Users that get a negative karma rating are banned from using the service or accessing videos for a predefined time period.

Camfrog uses this and it is quite effective. We also get the option of banning entire fucking countries by IP so we can restrict pretty much ANYBODY.

Again, Camfrog beats the shit out of any other attempt at a video chat.

I think we're forgetting about some slightly different capabilities of the cards in use.

For example, ATi has always had better draw distance and maintaining texture appearance over those distances. nVidia has rather sucked at it while maintaining better shadowing capability. I've tested and found this to be true since the old ATi Rage versus the TNT2, and it still holds true today (My ATi HD4200 does better at draw distance compared to the 9800GTX+)

We've got ultra-bright 1W diodes, now. Two companies I know of have smashed 150 lux/w and thus are surpassing HIDs in visual efficiency. I think Cree smashed the 200 lux/w, which just blows away any HID out there. Get two High-capacity NiMH batteries (each holding about 4w of power) and a joule thief hooked to a micro-amplifier and solar panel, and you could light a desk for a night, at about the same cost as this solution in TFA, and at very likely near the same price line.
