My last car did this. Driving on snow or very wet roads would trigger the low tire pressure warning. It did detect an actual low tire once but there were so many false positives that I learned to ignore it.
One good thing is that it forced me to keep a pressure gauge in the car so I could check the tires and reset the warning light.
I'm considering dropping Comcast cable TV because they recently cut off clear-QAM service in my area. I use a Mac with TV tuner. I can still get local and broadcast channels but no more basic cable (Discovery, etc). Comcast doesn't have analog service anymore so it's no longer possible to watch cable channels without a cable box. CableCard doesn't seem to be an option on the Mac yet and the DRM worries me.
Since then I've been relying more on Netflix, Hulu, and torrents. My computer is a Mac Pro tower, The software I'm using is EyeTV, Plex, and Front Row. It's really a kick-ass setup. I have a HDHomerun tuner and I plan to hook it up to an antenna soon.
I still have a cable box for a TV in another room but I'm considering replacing that with a Mac Mini or Apple TV.
It's nice to share but there's a point where it's no longer sharing and you're just being taken advantage of. If you're not comfortable saying no then I'd just not bring the laptop to school (or not take it out).
My favorite is the latest Apple keyboard. It's the most comfortable to type on that I've had so far.
The only parts I don't like is where the Fn key is placed, and it's missing Print Screen, etc.
because they're the only option. I don't have fios here, and I'm in an apartment so I can't put a dish on the roof. I only be able to get a handful of channels with an antenna.
Don't forget about the web. Simple stuff is still somewhat cool on web pages. HTML and CSS aren't programming languages but they lead to things like javascript, php, perl, etc. Kids who learn to program these days could go that route.
I guess someone could make the argument that it is more fair to the smaller customers. Pay $8000 for a sever license, and $50 for each of 75 clients, rather than pay $5000 for a server license.
But yeah, it's probably mostly greed.
I notice that my wrists tend to hurt more when i'm using a chair with arm rests. There's something about typing or mousing while my elbows are sitting on arm rests seems to make things much worse.
The brainwashing that goes on in those schools can be scary sometimes.
Speak for yourself. I went to a Catholic high school and I found the faculty there to be very intelligent and open minded. There was no brainwashing of any kind. Religion was kept to the religion classes, aside from a morning prayer and the occasional school ceremony. I do not consider myself Catholic and never felt pressured to change. I got a better education at that school than I ever could have gotten from the local public schools. (I attended a public school my first year, then transfered).
Raised flooring is great when the AC drain clogs and the air conditioner starts leaking water. It can be building up down there for days but you'll always stay high and dry! The cables don't seem to mind either.
I recently bought a LaCie ethernet disk 1TB at work. It's mostly used for backups and a couple of office file shares. We've had it for about two weeks and so far so good. It runs Windows XP embedded and can be joined to the win2k domain. Actually, it's just a standard PC with a VIA 667mhz cpu, 128mb RAM, and two 500gb hard drives. I've managed to hack it so I can reach Explorer and a command prompt, and run scripts and all that stuff. I probably could have built one of these..
We got a shoe/sporting goods store and a massage parlor
That would have worked if you hadn't stopped me.
Some memories are too profitable to die...
The Simpsons?

Since they did that I've changed my browser home page to: http://www.google.com/pacman/. Nice plain white background, and you get to play Pac Man.

The guy has very large feet
This is the stuff: Fluosol
Remember that 30 minute long informercial for the Macintosh? It must have been around the early-mid 90s

I've personally never bought or been influenced by an add on a TV or radio.
Sure you have. Advertising is the reason you buy Crest toothpaste or Kellog's Rice Krispies over unknowns like Brite-N-Clean or "Dave's Rice Crisps".
It's all about familiarity.
What do you expect? He's got SpooForBrains. :)
CSS based slashdot :)
Hm, that should have been $800 :)

Why do the Americans want the system to change? The article seems pretty one sided. What are the benefits to the proposed changes?

I've got a paper map in my car. That's about the only place I'd need one.

Isn't a laptop just a small desktop PC? Desktops aren't really going anywhere, they can just be carried around more easily.
