    because i also have a tablet for android and android apps, and i dont use my phone much for apps anymore i just use it for phone calls and txt msgs. and i want to uncomplicated my phone, so i wont be installing any third party apps, and will only check for software updates to the factory operating system on the phone, thanks Nokia i love that phone

    i have a galaxy s6 now, but it dont have FM radio, cant replace the battery myself, i am not buying a new phone until i can buy a phone that has those features. plus i dont want to disable apps i dont like or use, i want a phone that does not have third party apps bundled in like facebook, or microsoft office, i know those apps are not crucial for the system, they are third party crapware,

  6. yup, i favor Linux a LOT, but i keep windows around because there is some apps not available on Linux that can be found for windows, and vis-versa, there are apps that run on Linux that is not available on windows but is for Linux

  11. i already hate systemd, it is a god damned octopus with tentacles going places no init system belongs, i just bought a new PC that is too new for the released distros, i finally got debian testing running on it, but i expect some update to bork the system since development is not frozen yet, same with the slackware current tree, it ran good for a while but it is still under heavy development and an update borked it, but while it was running it ran great, i look forward to slackware-15 just to get away from systemd

    yup, that and a little known package called "vrms"

    The vrms program will analyze the set of currently-installed packages on a Debian-based system, and report all of the packages from the non-free and contrib trees which are currently installed.

    it was stupid to make cellphone batteries irreplaceable or difficult to replace anyway, its not just replacing the phone, you also have to transfer your phone account and all the data you keep on the phone, then configure it to the way you like it,
    just the other day the idea came to me and i searched for a smartphone with just the minimum of features that ran on 3 or 4 AAA batteries, sure it would be more bulky than your modern smartphones but the replacing the battery problem wont be an issue anymore,.

    lets see, cant easily pop out and buy a replacement battery at walmarts, so theres that, and if the screen breaks, or that super thin frame that holds the phone hardware gets bent and breaks the circuit board that would put a phone out of order for sure, and on the software side if the developers are no longer supporting that older phone model then your phone's software is obsolete and could be vulnerable to bad things

    and considering this iphone X debacle I think I will stick with off-brand android phones, so far my samsung is doing okay, but i am not sure i want to continue blowing hundreds of bucks every couple of years just for a phone i only use for phone calls and txt msgs, hopefully china will flood the market with decent phones that sell for under a hundred that are comparable to samsung galaxy S# models
