  5. thats basically what i did, i got a clean copy of win-7_SP1 did a fresh clean install and never allow it to connect to the internet, i only use it for a few things that Linux dont do great, i have HDSDR for a SDR receiver i like to play with, GQRX is great software on Linux but it dont have a notch filter which would be a great feature if Csete could/would add a notch filter feature to GQRX, so for now when i need a notch filter i open a laptop with win-7 and HDSDR and use that, other than that microsoft windows is an operating system i mostly abandoned

    i have two radio controlled clocks i will have to throw out, both set their time by WWVB at 60_KHz, i can understand the need to cut back but dont eliminate WWV completely, get rid of 15 & 20 MHz, and just keep WWVB on 60_KHz, and WWV 2.5, 5 & 10 MHZ because 15 & 20 is rarely heard since propagation rarely favors those higher frequencies, and possibly switch to SSB because AM requires more power output so it could save a little on the electric bill, canada uses SSB on their time frequencies on HF 3.33, 7.85, 14.67 all on USB

    cant pay your utility bills with it, cant go buy groceries at your local brick & mortar with it, cant fill your gas tank with it, i dont see how it took off like it did but since it did i can see why it is crashing, eventually it will be gone like any other passing fad

  23. did google ever get the chrome-os to run android apps like they said they would? i considered buying a chromebook on sale recently but i want to know if i can run android apps on it, mostly sdrtouch and utilize the sdrplay device driver for my SDR receiver, i have an rtl-sdr but the sdrplay is a much better receiver that makes the rtl-sdr look like a cheap knockoff sdr

    the only safe computers will be the ones completely disconnected from the internet, kept locked in a secure room where only authorized personnel are allowed to enter, i think its time for a completely new architecture built with security in mind from the ground up and the same goes for the software, no back doors, no remote code allowed to execute unless it is sandboxed and unable to touch the system
