Make sure you include a "Do you believe you have a competent IT staff?" y/n option in there. If they anser no, add at least 1,000 bucks / Linux install, cause thats what they'll end up spending on some consultant gettin it all running smoothly doing exactly what they want

Well, lets see:
AOL As your default homepage
Tons of shitty AOL bookmarks
AOL crap cluttering up your toolbar
AOLIM installed weather you want it to or not
AOL shortcut on the desktop
AOL as your default search engine instead of Google
These are about the only commercial "features" you get with netscape over mozilla.

Kmeleon is basiclly a native win32 browser using the Gecko engine. What it's trying to be basiclly is Internet Explorer using the Gecko engine. It s VERY fast (cause it doens't use the XUL crap that slows down mozilla / netscape), and looks alot like IE. It uses IE style favorites, so all you have to do is make windows shortcuts to bookmark things. Its also got IE style draggable / customizeable toolbas, etc. Its very nice, id suggest checking it out.
Quick question, have you ever actually run X on cygwin? I have, and its about as slow as a tortise, and that son a 700 MHZ. Not too usefull if you ask me.
In addition to MozCalander, and MozOffice, the Mozilla organization has annouced MozSink, an Open Source replacement for the Kitchen Sink(tm). It is believed that this could revolutionize Open Source development.
Well, then you'll have to get it from the plain old "Go to microsoft.com and click on Download". Yeah, I know its a HUGE hassle, those couple of mouse clicks instead of having a wizard do it all for you....
Bad analogy. A better one would be "Imagine you tried to drive your motorcycle underwater and it didn't work!" Er, yeah, anyone who has brains doesn't try that, and if they do, there hopeless.
Why are you trying to go to MSN sites anyways? All it is is Microsoft propaganga, coated with a thick layer of privacy stealing passport authentication. Anything you want to get from MSN you can get from Yahoo, including email, news, stock quotes, etc. And no M$ or Passport bullshit, not to mention that Yahoo pages are and always have been perectly compatable with ANY browser (even Lynx), cause they never fell into all the DHTML crap. And they actually have a GOOD search engine (Google)
You forget though, that to use VMWare you still need a Winblows license. There go your projected svaings from using Linux, right out the window. With no savings in the picture anymore, there s little reason to choose it.
Google does have an advanced search, with phrase mayching and the "AND, OR" boolean matching that made altavista usefull. It just isn't as widely publicized as altavista's was.
Try here for the advanced search, and here for how to use Google's pattern matching, its actually quite good (as is everything in Google).
I've never had a PS2 lock up on my. Also, it plays my Gladiator DVD fine, whereas playing it o my PC causes it to lock up in this one specific part every time (when Maximus is fleeing the prison), boht in windows and linux. Dunno whats up, maybe bad sector on the disk? Anyways, the PS2 rolls through it without even a skip.

With a keyboard, mouse, Hard Drive, and Ethernet/Modem adapter, SONY may have essentially created the next cheap home computer...
Ok, lets break down the cost of this cheap computer...
Playstation 2 - 299.99
Hard Drive -199.99 (I am assuming, considering the shark drive is 119.99)
Ethernet Adaptor - 59.99 (Also assuming, using retail price for a Dramcast One)
Linux - 29.99 (??? No clue ???)
Total Cost - 590
So, for 590 you can get a computer that runs about the speed of a k62-233 doing anything but play games, when I could go to my locaL pc store and get a 700 or 800 MHZ machine (that can also play games) for less???? Yeah, thats a new definition of cheap alright.
I always find it funny whenever slashdot links to a NewsForge article, which obviously would get thousands of hits from that linking, and yet only has 3 or 4 comments, while the slashdot post has several hundred. A question to everyone, why do you never comment on the NewsForge site itself? I'm just curious.

Nice job Captain Obvious, the guy specifclly mentions this in the question.
Who spend days at a time at work (read: Stallman) without showers, removing the last 3 words provides a better description :o)
It won't let you instal Windows patches on a Linux box. Duh.

Why in God's name are you going to Windows update in Mozilla, on linux nonetheless??? Don't you realize that:
Windows update runs totally on ActiveX controls, which don't work in anything but IE, and
It downloads and installs everyhing on the fly, which makes it useless in Linux??
Someone mod the parent down, he's either a total idiot or a helpless troll
How do you figure running VMwar eon every workstation is a "single installation" ???
.... is "So now the porn stars ar emaking their own websites?"
I can't be alone here

OK /. editors, this is getting ridiculous. You mean these magical FMDs in this article? Or this one? Oh wait, its the same thing.
