Funny, I just installed the latest Omega drivers for my Ti4600. During the install process, ZoneAlarm said that ScriptingHost 6.0 (maybe VisBasic 6, not 100% sure) wanted to access the Internet. I'm glad I didn't let it.
I'm also glad that the only machine at the office that ever has remote login turned on is on a static IP address and isn't running dhcpd at all (and it doesn't have it turned on now anyway). And we aren't using directory services on the desktop for any authentication at all, so even the DHCP machines shouldn't be at all vulnerable. Having an email out to the group as soon as I'm back from vaaction will be a nice feather in my cap.
Incidentally, a fresh install of 10.3 does have some of these services turned on by default, and they aren't really necessary unless you have a specific reason for them - corporate IT environments for example. This is usually a Microsoft boobo, Apple usually leaves things off - remote login for one - by default. And hasn't ever done anything like share your C$ automatically.
Dear god that is so true. I think somethign broke inside me during an argument with a VP of Web Design who insisted on designing templates in frelling Photoshop and having the webdesigners recreate them in DreamWeaver. And be pixel perfect. On everything from Netscape 3.0 to 4.71. We did QA on everything back to Win95, IE 3. Pixel perfect. And this in a web studio where most of the designers had never heard of the W3C - suggestions to validate a troublesome page were met with blank stares.
I got a nice severance package.
If I found myself in this situation today, I'd let slip to the CFO what the dollar figure was on pixel-perfect templates (we had dozens and dozens of unique layouts - go figure) that took 3-10 days to debug versus standards-compliant pages that failed gracefully and could be done in hours. Counting the effect on deadlines and deals, I could have made a case for millions. Down, not across.
Sadly, in this case there's no question that you would have made the same reply if "I" hadn't posted at all. But you would have had a better shot at first post.
Cultural history starts 300 years ago ? I must have imagined being assigned several plays by Sophocles in high school English, or architectural disucssions covering the classical influence on most of our public buildings. Or the whole Shakespeare thing...
Babylon 5 actually didn't finish quite as intended. They didn't have a commitment to the 5th season, so JMS had to pretty much wrap the main arc in 4 seasons. That explains alot about the lower quality of a lot of the 5th season.
Astral Projection sounds good, thanks for the tip. Let me return the favor by recommending Trance Control. Most of their tracks are more melodic than the four of Astral Projection's that I've just listened too, but there's plenty of hardcore 'twitchy' stuff like Astral Projection in their mix as well. Gothenburg Sound is good, Vision of Mind is Awesome, and Beyond 303 and Atomic Dance Explosion are likely to turn up in soundtracks.
Trance Control is about to pass 10,000,000 total plays.
It may not be innovative per se, but it is a damned clever move by Microsoft. It opens up a new business space for them and lets them pitch COBOL solutions to the enterprise. They're gonna have an uphill job to close the deals, given their history with reliability and security, but by gum they can try !

Oooh, bummer.

It's worse than that, we've slashdotted future Slashdot. The implications for the time-space continuum are dire.
Slashdot looks really good in Safari with Futura Book.

So there.

At almost any dollar figure per message AT&T can easily talk big enough damages to get law enforcement's attention.
YHBT. YHL. HAND.

How many Pulitzers does Fox News have ? The Daily Show has two. Indecision 2000 and one last year for something I can't recall.

I think she kicks high too.
How about this ?
Leave Apple out of this.
Slowing down before you're sure the siren is coming your way is a traffic hazard.

How long does it take to copy a 17MB file between folders on that RedHat system of yours ?
I swear I didn't post the dupe myself nor do I have any knowledge of who did.
One of my fans must have gotten their medication messed up. I posted the original several weeks ago.
Maybe I should put a "Maserati's Greatest Hits" section in my journal.
Wow, OS/2 versions still available and being patched.
How about Linux and OS X versions IBM ? I'd love to see an AmiPro running in Aqua, always did like that - especially compared to WinWord.
quietly reporting everything I get through spamcop and to the FCC.
It isn't helping, but maybe one of the ones I help get shut down will quit.
How about this ?

No, you have to either ship the source with the binary OR accompany the binary with a written offer etc etc.
