* SCSI drivers. These exist in/System/Library/Extensions, probably for licensing reasons. SCSI drivers is a sore button since I have a couple fo Adaptec 2906 cards that just won't run under 10.2.8. Possibly Adaptec's fault.

Y'know what game does all that today ? World War 2 Online. It's evolved into a pretty good online FPS, albeit MUCH slower paced than Counterstrike or BF1942. It's currently running 3-5 weeks per map reset, whichever way things go. Then we all go w00t and start over. There is R&D and production now, the engine is *better*, although still not quite modern (Quake II) yet. I will say that long scenic vistas in the French hills are lovely, and ideal for setting up 88s. Playing in open country with 100s of people is worth a more primitive engine, they have other priorities. It's getting there, slowly but surely.
Get in a good squad and hang around. Log on, follow HQ commands, ask around. What you get is the ability to log in every so often, play for a few hours, keep up with what's going on in the larger game, hang with your squaddies. Casual game play, a couple of hours a week. Even just logging in and going lone wolf can be fun. But the point is, you don't have to be harcore to play effectively. Stick with your squad and you'll gte plenty of targets and you'll always know what's going on.
The game also has a definitive end point determined by player actions, major operations are coordinated days in advance, and rank gives you some minor perks. Okay, binoculars are not "minor", and being able to spawn decent aircraft takes a while. But there is a tight supply of the good aircraft, so having to earn them is a good thing. Advancement is nonlinear, each rank takes longer to gain.
I'd say.... wait three weeks after the 1.10.0 release - mid November should do it, so that the bugs get worked out and then check out a free trial.
Look me up under the same nick in the north after Nov 1, our AO is changing again.
That board is almost entirely "Strong Sells" with no position in the stock at all. There are also a few shills with "Strong Buy" positions who chime in with such rhetoric as "To the Moon !". The "Sells" put a lot of effort into drowning out poorly-spelled FUD from the shills. One of them makes the trip to the Delaware courthouse to get these documents, then scans them and sends them to PJ.
The shills may well be either paid or just 14. At least one may be an insider based on a couple of specific predictions. Put no stock in that board whatsoever, there's nobody at all reasonable in any way amongst the "Strong Buys"
I read it for the humor value, although it has become a rather stylized flame fest in the abscence of new pronouncements from Lindon. Things should pick up now.
If you have QuickTime installed, click on the "Try it Out" icon and watch the movie. I'm at the far end of a slow link to new software (gonna have to rant about work in my journal) so I won't be getting it nearly soon enough.
Dear God. What these people consider a 'release" version should count as criminal negligence on an ordinary project. This is about an election, nothing - with the possible exception of the judicial system that may have to step in over this - is more important in our system of government.
I mean... My God ! They don't know what they're sending to the client ! "Is this a "testing" release or not? (Ashamed to ask). I think the hallucinations ought to be resurfacing with Steve already. Ken"
Where are the US Marshall's ? Ashamed to ask ? How's he gonna feel under interrogation ? Or on the witness stand. Draft 'em and send 'em to Leavenworth.
Ahh. Ok, that point was pretty.. indirect. I have to say that 1938 was the last chance. If you like, put all of WW2 on Chamberlain's tab. Or the French, a couple of rifle regiments in the Reinland and Hitlar would never have gotten started. It's no wonder Churchill drank like a fish, he was screaming preparedness for most of the interwar period and nobody listened until it was way too late. Then they gave him the job of saving the country. A lot of people here know what that can be like, with differences mainly of degree and not of kind.
If I ever get *really* into Hearts of Iron I may see if I can shut Hitler down diplomatically in the late 30s.
Were they now ? I must have missed the connections, not having read the X-Wing series yet. A new X-Wing game set during the fight against Thrawn would be very nice. Even a straight update to the engine would be fine, X-Wing: Alliance was a long time ago...
Without a Second Front in the West, Stalin would not have stopped until he hit the Atlantic. If he managed to beat a Germany that wasn't fighting a two-front war. We tied down a lot of German troops and planes in the West, forces that could ahve won (or forced a stalemate) in the East. Then where would we be ? Looking at a Europe dominated by Hitler's successors that's where.
I'd like to know what the grandparent poster thinks we should have done instead. Coming up through Italy would have been much more expensive in lives and treasure, and would have stopped at the Alps anyway.
I think we've been trolled. Unless the grandparent was just shocked at the amount of casualties crammed into such a short time and (relatively) small space. Which is the whole point. Thousands of men died horribly in landing craft before they ever got to the beach. Thousands more died in bloody sand as they attacked concrete bunkers with small arms. It was horrific. Everyone involved, especially the combat veterans in the first wave, knew it would be bloody and many expected it to be worse.
They did it anyway.
There wasn't any other road to Berlin. It was Normandy or nothing. Thousands dead at Omaha beach or the Swastika over Paris. Late in 1944 Stalin would have been willing to accept his pre-war borders, maybe with all of Poland. I haven't seen any hints that his political position depended on taking out Germany. Repelling the invader and gaining territory (especially Poland) would have been acceptable.
Game it out folks. Play Axis & Allies and prohibit amphibious assults. Maybe just big one. Maybe just in Western Europe. Play any strategic WW2 wargame and guarantee Germany no D-Day. Russia is toast, fast.
I'm gonna repeat myself one last time. The Western Allies had to engage Hitler on his Western flank. Period. You do that by launching an invasion across the Channel. Period.
Back up your purchased music *before* your rips. iTMS does not let you redownload purchased music. Lose your rips, lose your time. Lose your purchases, lose your money.
That's probably as much to mollify the RIAA as it is to save the bandwidth costs of people re-downloading 100s of tracks. And some things do disappear from the store. If they allowed redownloads, they'd have to keep copies of everything that's ever been in the music store. There might even be contractual issues with this.
My copy of VirtualPC came with an actual OEM copy of Windows 98, hologram and all. There is (was) a "no OS" version for use with x86 Linux, BSD etc. operating systems, or for those who have a Windows site license. No license issue there.
As for Outlook 2001, well the original poster did download it... from Microsoft. So long as you pay for your Exchange CALs you're ok here. I'm having some connectivity issues (nothing to bug the router guys about, yet) or I'd show you the license.
No, the G5s shipped with 10.2.7, it's recompiled for the G5 to take advantage of the new architecture - should be reasonably optimized although that probably isn't a priority yet - and has some 64-bit support. Yellow Dog Linux is ready for the G5, but their support is only as good as gcc at this point.
Tip: Do FFX before starting KH. I did 'em in reverse order, and it kinda minimized the impact FFX should have jad in its own right. They're different games, not sequels but play 'em in order anyway.
Realistic ? Mmm hmmm. It's all about the gameplay, but it is rpetty cool.
If you want it real, try IL-2 Sturmovik: Forgotten Battles. It's a Russian-developed flight-sim, very realistic, absolutely gorgeous, and it covers pretty much the entire Eastern Front.
As others have pointed out, vehicles are coming next year. But they aren't essential at all. DoD and RtCW have been very successful without vehicles. The infantry always was the final arbiter and many infantry-only actions were fought during the way.
But, ok. You like vehicles. Fine. I've been trying to promote the use multiple crews in my WW2OL squad, the 105th Panzer Brigade. We're a combined arms unit with, of course, an excellent armor unit. I think you'd fit in, as several other members are also a bit nuts:-) Tell 'em Maserati sent you.

Slashdot headlines aren't legally binding, unless Proposition 11 passes and we all hope it will.

The DoD and intelligence community may very well ban picturephones for security reasons. They banned Furby's because of the recording chip.

Eeeek!
Hint: "Kamikaze", Google (tm) for the that with the rest of the keywords, first link will be fine.
CC number ? The grandparent did say "warez group" didn't it ?

And no, the DKs aren't in iTMS.
If you're kidding, I'm not.
My credentials are figuring out how to get autofire in 2600 Space Invaders by toggling the power switch.
