Don't fix whats not broken. Cables rarely go bad. The rare occurrences can be fixed, but you really don't need to replace cable until it fails. Usually new standards come out faster than the cable will fail. As has been said, gigabit/CAN/ be run on Cat5e.

I use Skype on my thinkpad just fine with the built in mic and sometimes I use headphones if I need to turn the other person up. I also just bought a skypein number so landlines can call me, and its awesome!

In case you didnt know, supernodes only connect the call, they do not handle the whole thing. once the connection is made there is no work for the supernode

skype only uses the middleman to connect the call, not to actually transmit the whole thing
I just tried the Suse 9.3 live eval, and I found one thing that was cool. My wireless card actually worked! I connected and was viewing/. and using GAIM in no time at all!!!! Now, if they could just make this work in everything lol.
Oh, and sound didnt work.
