Y'know, there is alot of very subtle prejudices in that article. "South Koreans are the most wired-up of all Earthfolk and waste hours of their lives engaging in online gaming and assuming virtual identities in role-playing games." Not only does that assume that every Korean is addicted to MMO's, note also the use of the word "waste" thrown in very casually. Also, "Hackers are actively trying to steal from other players" that makes it sound like the second you get into an MMO your system is subject to the whim of every criminal mastermind on the planet.
I dunno, just something I noticed.
So long as the games industry remains what it is (aside from hardware and technological improvements, or even the money going into the industry) EA will not be the top of the gaming industry, now or in the future. They can swallow up as many companies as they want, and they can aquire as many liscenses as they feel like. At the end of the day though, a company of a couple hundred dedicated people with an original idea will always, ALWAYS, beat out a giant corporation. Especially one like EA. EA is like the Wal-Mart of the videogame industry, and I'm getting sick of it.
I think the online thing is sort of lame. I want the ability to play with my friends specifically if I want to, but to limit me to ONLY those people would just be silly. Imagine only playing an Xbox Live game with just the hand ful of people you know who own xboxes and have xbox live. It would just get boring.
That's pretty cool. I mean, NOW it's cool. It won't be cool in 300 years when we've all been replaced. It's all fun and games until someone loses a war.
But in all seriousness thats a really cool invention, but what can you use that for? Why are they spending money on making mini robots that copy themselves? I mean, sure it's cool to say "oooh ahhhh" but what practical purpose does that serve? Maybe I'm missing something in all that.
Gamespy is a great network for PC games that nearly everyone knows about. It's clearly not considered a kids game service in anyway, so this is a smart move by nintnedo. Not only are they getting recognition with the Gamespy name, they're getting GOOD recognition. This is another huge step for Nintendo. Maybe now we'll see gamespy involved with Revolution??
2007? This is good, by the time this game comes out I'll have my new gaming computer. This one is a piece of monkey turd wrapped in a breakfast burrito from mcdonalds.
I think you make a really good point here. I was a little put off by the "tracking and killing innocent animals on foot is just fine" as well. I think the important thing to keep in mind here is that hunting is something should be kept simple. Banning a robotic gun is just like banning steroids in baseball.
I'm willing to bet they'd do a HELL of a lot of work on the Doom 3 engine. It's not like "Hey, we'll make some maps and models on the doom3 engine and call it quake 4." They're putting alot of effort into making sure that the engine will be stable with alot of enemies and open areas i'm sure.
That's really pretty cool, I can't wait till a blind person can come back after not seeing for thirty years and kick my ass in halo. Hey, it could happen!
Next we'll be arresting people for making flash animations of copywrited material with really bad translations. Psh. So how much does a NES game go for these days? Buck and a quarter? Buck Fifty? Thank god the man put these criminals at bay.
All your base.
EA's voracious appetite for liscense simply cannot be sated. It's interesting to see how a company controlled by satan and full of soulless CEO's and Designers can swallow up every last ounce of freedom in what was once a gloriously open source industry.
"We gave it our best shot."
The most anticipated product of 05? That's the biggest crock of 05 maybe. Not only was the general populous NOT looking forward to it, they gave it a nice luke-warm reception.
I declare DS the victor, not out of fanboyism, but out of hard core numbers.

Yeah, I play DnD too. I was just upset at the time of writing that so it got thrown in there.

"You don't see girls painting their faces and helping empty the keg, now do you?"
"Ever been to a lan party? It's a guy thing. Girls have makeovers and whatever else they do for fun."
You, Sir, are a sexist son of a bitch. "whatever else they do for fun"? Not only are you sexist your stupid. Have YOU ever been to a LAN party? Go to any major LAN party in the United States and you WILL see woman there. Just maybe if you left your parents basement every now and then you would know that.
What is the deal with "You don't see girls painting their faces and helping empty the keg, now do you?" First off, YES I have seen girls paint their faces. And secondly, are you trying to tell me you've never seen a girl drink beer? Yes, they will indeed go for the keg.
I seriously doubt what type of gamer you are, as well as your character.(And I don't mean your Dungeons and Dragons character.)
Paying 5 Dollars for two maps, is not a big deal. These are quality maps, that your going to be playing over and over again. Think about it. After 10 plays on this map it only costs 50 cents a play. And I'm not sure about you, but I'm playing these maps for more than 10 games. Your getting a proffesional map, fairly cheap. And eventually its still free. There's nothing bad here, once again bungie delivers up the goods.
This "expansion pack" can't possibly be the ending to Halo 2, as that would render a Halo 3 useless. Unless the expansion ALSO had a crappy ending. My guess is that this "X-Pack" is some multiplayer maps they're going to make available. Don't count on anymore story until Halo 3.
This is just getting ridiculous. If the government spent half as much time getting guns off the street and making weapons unavailable to kids then half our problems would be solved right there. And I'd really like somone to point out this "defecation" game for me. If no one in this community has heard of it it's probably a terrible game anyway. Maybe game's like Grand Theft Auto wouldn't exist if they didn't have real world models to go off of. Maybe you should focus on that instead of blaming games for bringing violence to your attention.

Because then it would be vintage, like pac-man.

I can't wait to fire up Half-Life 2 on that bad boy.
I'm not sure what PG-13 movie you're watching, but I have yet to see a nipple in a PG-13 movie if only for a split second.

I agree. Let's worry about the REAL menace here.
Two Energy swords would be as pointless as wielding two rocket launchers. As pointless as two deathstars stuck together. One is fine.

STOP MESSING WITH THE MOVIE. Just leave it the way it is. Do you really need that many more royalty cheques? This is pretty weak.

You hit the nail right on the head with that one.
There have been ALOT of decent RPGs. You just have to look for them.
