  1. Relatively Cheap on Group Testing Widescreen LCD Monitors · · Score: 1

I remember paying $730 for a 17inch Sony CRT. A little before that, you could pay over 2k for a 21inch CRT. I could take that 730 dollars now and nearly pay for a 24inch widescreen dell. I am amazed at how relatively inexpensive they are today. A friend just got the 24inch dell, it is a gorgeous. I have a 1905FP, and was considering another, now I think I will go for the 24

That is a good point, maybe they were referring to vista.

I was thinking if apple wanted to have control over thier OS, and not let it run on other machines, they could approach Microsoft and have them make a version of windows that runs on the mac... and make them support it.

On a sidenote, one of the things I always think about when I hear the "Mac is much more stable OS" comment,
Of course it is, windows would be a lot more stable too if you could only buy your machine from Microsoft.

I was really hoping that the time was here to be able to Legally boot both Apple and Windows on the same machine.

We use words like honor, code, loyalty...we use these words as the backbone to a life spent defending something. You use 'em as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide, then questions the manner in which I provide it! I didnt mean to imply that the original configuration was flawed. I was only thinking in terms of monitary investment. The price of an LCD is a lot closer to a Mac Mini than a box of cracker jack, or a box of cereal.

The underhanded comment comes from my jaded view of life. I dont believe that Apple was trying to give some customers a bonus, but was trying to get rid of the older configuration. A more above board approach, in my opinion, would be to let the current configuration sell out before releasing the new ones, or give a price break for the older configuration.

I just dont think its good business to randomly give some customers a superior product at the same price. If you get more than you paid for, your stoked. On the other hand, if you get what you paid for, and find out others got a better deal, you feel ripped off.

I think we are in agreement, because you say you "might be a little bummed" and "would likely wait" thats exactly how I would feel, and what I would do.

I think a more direct and legitimate comparison is an LCD monitor. Often times you cannot return them unless there are more than a specific number of flaws. You know your taking a gamble when you order one. If you wind up with a dead pixel in the middle of the screen, and your friend who bought two happens to get two flawless monitors by chance, its frustrating. I dont want to have to gamble when I buy electronics. It doesnt matter that apple is giving you "At least" what you paid for. I think its a reasonable expectation to have packaging reflect what is inside. This is kind of underhanded, and I would bet anybody who compares it to crackerjack or thinks that its a good thing to "possibly" get more than you paid for are not currently in the market for a mac mini

I think you will find that most people, myself included dont like to deal with other people. It may not be the theaters fault that a lot of people are pretty spineless when dealing with annoying people, but they are sure paying for it, arent they? I have had this conversation with lots of people at work, and everyone that is married, has a decent setup at home, would rather just stay with the netflix. I have never had popcorn thrown at me, or even the seat kicked that much. but I am a magnet for talking assholes, or kids that wont shut the #$%@ up. even one time two people with one translating to the other one. the last show I went to was madagascar, with the wife and two kids it was 28 bucks for tickets and I think 20 for the popcorn and drinks. so its not a cheap night. If I was young, single and trying to get laid, sure I would go the movies. but you cannot blame people if they no longer find it worth the price. I think the whoever wrote the article, yeah I read a few paragraphs, is off on a tangent. movies are absolutely good enough, there are several I wouldve liked to see, and will on netflix. Its just not worth the hassle, the price, and the gamble that your not going to be annoyed after spending your hard earned money.

That way we could all have a large satisfying chunk of pie. I think people get confused because of the word "Actor" after the VO part, and they assume if they are lucky enough to get any work at all, then that should be life changing financially. I think several hundred dollars for a few hours work is decent compensation... The idea of residuals is outrageous.

BTW, they should've bought Quark instead way back when, I dont think anyone actually working in publishing at the time was still using Pagemaker when Adobe bought Aldus. I miss the name Macromind. I thought it had a much edgier ring than Macromedia. Im amazed that Adobe didnt make this move a long time ago. As far as photoshop goes. I think it got to the top because A. it had no real competition at the time. and B. from Piracy. Everybody uses Photoshop because everybody knows Photoshop. I was reading elsewhere in this post about the new security measures Adobe has put into CS. I think its interesting that nobody I know is using CS. I work in the game industry and everyone I know is still using 6 or 7. I think people generally want to keep it compatable with what they have at home. It would be interesting to see the sales figures on CS vs. other upgrades. I think Piracy helped Adobe, and I think they know it. Otherwise they wouldve done a hardware dongle or security software a long time ago. But thats all my speculation, and its off topic anyhow.
