I like your ideology, but I don't think it's realistic.

Most parents will just buy what their kids tell them to buy. When I worked at Target I tried everything I could to convert all potential Xbox or PS2 buyers to buy a gamecube. Especially those with little kids (hey I'm an anti-microsoft nintendo fanboy - what do you expect?). I succeeded maybe two or three times. I failed dozens of times, despite the $50 price difference.

I would also warn parents that they probably shouldn't be buying Grand Theft Auto (and other M games) for their six year old. I succeeded maybe ten times, and failed dozens of times.

Sure this may be anecdotal and may not take into account free downloadable games (which others have pointed out may not actually be true), but it does help illustrate the point that parents will buy what their kids tell them to buy.

Just in case you're wondering: I made that suggestion because of firefox's feature that does an I'm Feeling Lucky search if the url you typed can't be found. So, if you accidentally type www/something.net you'll get the first result for "www" which happened at the time to be Microsoft - now it's Yahoo.

Yeah, that's pretty lame if you ask me. I thought SC and SC2 were the best fighting games ever and I'm sure SC3 will kick ass too, but it won't be worth buying a PS2 over.

The only game I'd consider buying a system for is Perfect Dark 0, but that doesn't look like it'll be out until X-Box 2, so I'm glad I never bought an X-Box.

Well, I guess I'd buy a system for any Zelda game, but I'm pretty much a Nintendo fanboy, so I'd be buying the system anyways.

I wonder if Namco thinks they will make more profit by releasing it on only one system. Sure the development time would be reduced some, and they'll probably get some perks from sony, but it seems like they'll be missing out on a large portion of sales.

I wouldn't be surprised if a GC and X-Box version end up coming out several months after the PS2 version though. It's happened before in the video game industry.

But personally, I run firefox with adblock because it doesn't render pages as they were intended. It renders only the content I am interested in seeing.
