For me OpenSUSE was the easiest to install on my old PC during my first try of linux a while ago (10.4?). Perhaps the bloat allows for installing on many different hardware configurations that a user could trim down once installed, whereas Ubuntu would just hang during install after multiple CD burn attemps, versions, etc.
Yast was pretty easy to use and overall I liked the user experience.
They're waiting for people to lose their patience, and your loose tongue shows that there are some who are frustrated with the site (you're not the only one.)
The funny thing is, you are on Slashdot, and this is where power users that have to troubleshoot problems for their less aware friends and co-workers convene. You can probably get a better idea of what's going on in the real world here than by talking to Uncle Oblivious.

it co-exists well with Ilfak's unofficial patch as well as the REGSVR32 workaround.
And if you did the REGSVR32 workaround, you can now get back the functionality of Windows Picture and Fax viewer.
Click Start, Run, Type "regsvr32 %windir%\system32\shimgvw.dll" (without the quotation marks) then OK.

Works fine on my Mac with the latest build of Chromium and the enable extension Inst bookmark.

Konfabulator 2.1 works great for me, and I don't have to opt out of installing a million Yahoo add-ons with Dashboard.
