Who's the RIAA? It's the Recording Industry Association of America. Needless to say they enjoy cracking down on mp3s to "preserve the intrests of the artists involved" They will probably be like the BSA Real Soon and crack down on mp3 trading irc rooms and whatnot.
I recently acqurired an IBM 14gig 7200rpm EIDE/33 Drive. I thought to buy IBM because my friend's 2.5gb IBM was blazing fast when he got it in 1996. Well, so is the IBM 14gig, I got it for ~$135 with shipping, which seemed like a good deal when we got it. I would go for a 7200rpm Segate,IBM, or Maxtor. I personally don't like western digital, but some people do. Be sure to get a 7200rpm drive though, its much more fast(very noticeably) than my 7gb Maxtor 5400rpm. Go with more rpm over more gigs and you'll be happy you did. I hope this helps. E-Mail me if you want any more advice.
I had fun with one of these on a school trip, after the pictures of new york were taken, I shorted the capacitor with the metal end of a pencil. Nice loud POP, right in the middle of some museum. Security came over toward me and my friends, and we slipped into the elevator...Some kid thought throwing it into some river after charging the flash would kill some ducks, but happily it didn't work:)
Are there any prepaids that aren't like this, I know the MCI Worldcom phones are(made by Uniden) I would really like a phone that could be used for emergincies without the $x a month fee for unused minutes, At least the minutes add up when you don't use them, but it doesn't help that the minutes are about 80 cents each!
Well, finally, someone who appriciates COL. I borrowed the cd from my friend a few days ago, and its light-years ahead of debian(although debian is more secure). I found your mouse, video card, sound card, drive partitions. This thing puts nt's installer to shame, and the tetris game while it installs is just icing on the cake. Although GNOME looks better, KDE is more functional and more stable for me. I disagree with anyone who recomends redhat/mandrake to anyone who is just starting linux. COL has what it takes to do well in the mainstream buisiness market too.
Yeah, but who would use linux over irix, most people in the sgi community wouldn't(at least the ones i've talked to). Linux is not always best for everything.
Yeah esp. with that autistic donatello, always keeping to himself(Donnatello loves machines) fux0ring some machine, he must be gay, he never helped kick shredders ass either, he just screwed with machines, what a geeky turtle.
Exactly, one of my musical friends is like this, everyone at my lunch table jokes that he is a stoner, when in fact, he's just actually pretty shy unless he's with a group of people
Well, I needed to reply somewhere. I was diagnosed with ADHD as a young kid. Was bad through most of elementery school, My parents never wanted to dope me out on everythingsalrightadrin, so i kinda paid through elementery school with bad behavior. I'm now a semi normal kid in an american high school. I've got a small group of good friends(2 are avid musicians, the other 2 are computer guys), get along well with members of both sexes, and fool around with linux in my spare time. I can hyperfocus as you describe(my friends call it computer hypnosys), but I don't think kids should be medicated for ADD at all unless its really severe. BTW a teacher from my elementry school recoignized me, and asked "Were you that same wild child from 5th grade?" I'm probably leaning twoard the geeky end of the spectum though, but I seem to get along with others
Digital 8mm is another proprietary sony idea, I think it will fail like beta did back in the 80's. Of course it won't matter because its just a camcorder format, but why get digital8 when DV is about the same price and the industry standard.
A program called MI/X server was a freeware X server for windows, it's now $25 with a 15 day free trial. The old one only does X11R5, but I think the new(2.0) one does X11R6. It's available at http://www.microimages.com/mix/
Most PCs that people build use celerons as they'd rather spend the money on better hardware(like a 7200rpm hard drive:) than a more expensive cpu that doesn't clock as well. Although the PIII is cheap at $180 for a 450, the Celeron 366 is $58 and I got mine to 523 on a cheap i810 board for my parent's pc. Xeons are way overpriced for any 'home' user. As for the i820, I think its a waste of money to buy a new mobo/ram/133bus cpu for what will probably be a small performance boost
At my school, they have an AUP(Acceptible Use Policy) that bans stuff like irc and icq. All the computers in the labs have fortres101, which locks out everything, I showed friends and classmates how to kill it, boot up off an msdos disk, c:, cd \fortres.101, copy flogo.exe fortres.exe, presto everything unlocks, the fortres logo still comes up. We also had a 50 person netmeeting while the school counsler was subbing in for the computers teacher, he had no idea why every student's machine suddenly came up with drawings of dicks(whiteboard), he just assumed it was a porno site. The teacher at our middle school was retarded anyway, I haven't seen our computers at our high school yet, i've only been there for a few weeks. Keep up the good work
Can you run linux where you work? If you can, damn, i'd love to work there, hell I'd work there if you ran NT all day, even MacOS. I wouln't have much of an urge to surf porn at work, slashdot, etc. are enough distractions from work. On the topic of motitoring, it sucks. Period.
What did they do with all the cool SGI boxes. I really just want an indigo case, to modify and stuff a pc in. Why would get rid of some nice boxen like those. Mail me if you can get me a workstation:)

Wow, i've been using linux for 4 1/2 years, and i'm 14. Not the moronic crack smoking 14 year old mind you, but someone who actually knows stuff. I remember in 5th grade, i picked up a book at barnes and noble, and said hey this looks cool, this was in the days of kernel 1.0.1 and fvwm. I now use linux on a router I set up out of a 486. I also use it on my personal pc which is an overclocked celeron and a bunch of parts, etc, I won't get into the details. With E + Gnome and the like, linux is actually becoming cool. A friend of mine who never saw linux before saw my desktop in E and was amazed. Now I have to get my parents pc to run linux...
I belive the term you're thinking of is sony's dual discrete laser tech. which is two lasers, one for cd, one for dvd. Dual focus laser is one which can read double layer dvd. Hope this helps

I have no isa slots on my motherboard(its an intel i810 chipset) and I doubt that the intel 820 boards will have any isa at all.
Ewwww...incest

This was on segfault before, its not original and should be moderated down. Jesux sucks!
