Putting two of these in paralell would not improve the frequency any more than holding two 2.4 Ghz cell phones and trying to talk on a 4.8 Ghz band.

Though many of the events allowed the use of remote-control devices, about half did require completely autonomous robots to be fielded (or at least penalized the teams that relied on human-control). In the FIRA soccer tournament, for instance, each team of robots was "managed" by a host computer that could communicate with each robot. However, the humans were not allowed to interact with the computer/robot network for the entirety of the event. Certain robot-battle events, as well as all of the navigation events and nearly all of the sumo events required fully autonomous robots to be fielded.

So, would it be possible to make a 3-D chip?

Technically, yes. I'm assuming by "3-D chip" you are referring to stacked transistors (channels and gates in each layer, not just on the bottom, as it is now).

However, the issues you run into range from the silicon (you're either doing some amazing wafer bonding or finding a way to precisely re-grow single-crystal silicon on an already fabbed substrate) to the fabrication (each metal layer must have a lower melting point, otherwise you ruin all your previously depositied layers... not to mention that it's quite difficult to place the polysilicon layers after any metal is down) to the thermal (silicon just wouldn't transport heat to the surface that well) to the yield (tall things are error prone unless you are just etching holes) to the flat-out process price (more masks and steps exponentially increases the cost).

Not that it's not a field worth looking into, it's just one that's not yet "just around the corner".

As one who has played through I, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, and IX [yes, I still have a life, a girlfriend, and a job] -- I must say that VIII was the greatest letdown of the bunch. It seems to be awash in teenage angst and lousy Emo lines.

It's engine seemed to suggest you needed way too much power-leveling and power-drawing, and the side quests were so far disconnected from the game as to render them a time-waste. It did have the saving grace of a rather addicting card game (and a few nice FMV's), though.

As a whole, though, if it's a tabletop RPG environment in a computer game that you're looking for, Final Fantasy is not the way to go. The plot lines are all done more "Adventure" style than "RPG" style, is the game mechanics that give them the "RPG" label.

And personally, I don't think that's a bad thing. Yes, there are times I like a free, open story, but at the same time, sometimes I prefer a story told to(-ish) me, as well. I compare it to reading a good-and-somewhat-interactive book... Even though the comparsion generally inspires pointing and laughing with me as the subject.

The 6-hit-combo thingie the article mentions seems to be just their tried-and-true "critical hit" system with some extra graphics... The hit combos were in FF1, by the way. I believe one could, with luck and a good weapon, get anywhere between one and six hits.

The new shield-guarding ability? They've had an "eva" (evade) stat since FF1 and introduced the shield as the primary blocker in FF6.

The enemy-fighting-enemy flair could add quite a bit to the game, though. After gamers erupted with joy in response to scenes of Covenant and Flood battling it out before their eyes in Halo, we've seen a new resurgence of this "I'm not the only one doing all the fighting" addition to games.
[Not to say that Halo invented the idea, of course. They were just the first, IMHO, to do it breathtakingly in these latest graphical environments.]

Now, the word 'rugged' comes from the Scadanavian word for 'shaggy'. However, the popular cowboy mentality has managed to transform 'unkempt' into 'robust', as evidenced by the definition for 'ruggedize':

The word that has been interpreted as "day" in Latin and later English is the Hebrew yom. The Biblical Hebrew language is composed of somewhere around 3000 non-proper words [as opposed to English's ~4 million], and yom was used to represent both a 24 hour period as well as an extended time period. [yom was preserved as "day" in translations such as "the day of the Romans" or "the day of God's wrath".]

So there you have it. *That* is what the Bible [originally] said about Creation. Take it any way you wish to prove whatever point you will, but that's where the words come from.
