As someone who sold literally hundreds of Gamecubes working retail, the people that buy Gamecubes are not enthusiasts looking for a little engine that could, they are predominantly parents looking for the system that offers the most kid friendly titles and the lowest price.

There are those that pick them up for wonderful titles like RE4 and SSBM but at least in my experience they're not in the majority.

The vast vast vast majority of torrents I've been connected to, either the download is superfast and I have to wait for painfully slow upload to even out my ratio, or on the other hand I'm left dead in the water while my upload goes full blast so that every peer can be stuck at 67% just like I am when my upload/download is 600% Of course, once the swarm gets large enough even the limited capacity of home lines should be enough to keep the downloads of new peers going quickly. As long as BTs bandwidth can get as many seeders going as fast as possible and enough people participate I'd be willing to beleive it could work.

I like how movable materia equiped on characters with inherent strengths and weaknesses is seen as "destroying characer developement". Can you make Barret your theif? Yes. Will he be any good at it? Not a snowballs chance in hell. It makes pretty decent sense if you think about it, anybody is free to try whatever they want as far as magic and abilities are concerned, but some are better than others. I know most people never bothered to look at the characters actual stats, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. I fully agree though that the series has jumped the shark, but even as much as I hated 8 and 9 I don't think it really became obvious until 10 and 10-2 (aka FF:Wonderyears and FF:Pretty Pretty Princess)that the FF license was about cashing in for every penny it's worth and providing unessessary graphics instead of a decent storyline and likeable characters.

Firstly, after my time in Seattle I learned there is third group, the trendy homeless. 20-somethings who live on the street because the weather is nice enough to do so and they enjoy the culture and lifestyle of doing nothing but sitting on a street corner all day being too cool for The Man. Secondly an anecdote your last comment. When I was in highschool we always had tickets for the busses to get too in from school. One weekend while walking downtown a man asked us for a dollar for the bus so he could "get home" we offered him a bus ticket and were greated with a look of disgust and steam of insults before he walked off in a huff. That was not the first or the last time its happened, but certainly the most hostility filled.

Where alcoholism and drug addiction are the primary cause of homelessness, such as a person had a fairly stable life, a home, a job, maybe a family, and lost it all because of an unhealthy lifestyle, I can almost garauntee you that they had said lifestyle problem long before anyone called them on it. There are a lot of people in the world struggling with dependency, but there are a lot more who aren't struggling at all, I don't think I'm to blame for the situation by identifying it.

As someone who worked in retail, and is very glad to be out of it, I will say that yelling and screaming is very effective, because a lot of retail employees have very weak spines. However, please, please please please, try asking nicely first. Most clerks are more than happy to do whatever they can for you out of genuine sympathy if you come in and ask politely. If that doesn't work feel free to throw the tantrum, but you always run the risk of running into me, and about one of my dozen former manager who will shut you down, no questions asked, quiet down or you're out of the buildin. Won't leave the building? You'll be leaving in squad car (or at least next to it, as they rearely arrest people for things like that here). The situation is probably different for cell providers, but big box store have absolutely no shortage of customers and sometimes keeping a "loyal customer" is far more expensive than having them never come back again.

THat being said, if you play FPSs, RTS, TBS, MMORPGS, or sandbox style western RPGs a console just doesn't hold a candle. If you begind your electronics life as a diehard gamer I'd say there is very little chance you'll ever become a diehard mac fan, it just isn't condusive to the mindset.
