    Maybe they could have avoided this if they used a method other than HTTP to download content. Maybe where they host the whole file first, and share it with other clients? Each client could pass along ("seed"?) pieces to each other until everyone peers had the entire file. It would be way less server intensive for Paramount. Any ideas?

    Miro (formerly known as Democracy Player) is a free way to do this and not be tied to any proprietary formats. Worth looking into.

    OTRS is what I use for tracking. It seems built specifically to deal with tickets opened through an email support box, but has lots of internal tracking features as well.

    I like the YouTube idea, but even that has its caveats. It would be nice if they set up a feed for the Democracy Player. That could be less prone to external influences (if they'll take down a video of a car crash because the state of New Jersey asks them to, what's to stop Venezuela from requesting YouTube pull a video for being critical of the government?)

    For the same reason I don't believe Apple will ever release its software for installation on PCs. Hardware sales are where Apple makes its money, and who would really buy the hardware if they could install OS X on a $300 Walmart PC?

    There was an Ask Slashdot a while back about why Windows doesn't have a faster boot time. I don't remember what the final consensus was, but how come this OS is able to boot so quickly? Why can't Windows do this?

    They don't work for the advertiser? More importantly, they don't work for the consumer. When there's evidence that in-game ads are subsidizing (or cancelling out) my game purchase costs, maybe I won't mind so much. I can't get behind this double-dipping.
