Thats the root of the problem. I'd wager 90% of the functioanlity for browsers is only used by 5% of end users. Granted a lot of stuff is demanded by web develoeprs who want fancy this, animated that, and sliding and fading the other, but to be honest, most of us dont need any of that junk. As end users, how much of browser bloat do we really need?

Jeez, You make it sound like an office suite.

If you factor in extensions, plug-ins, themes, etc. You may have a point. Not a good one, due to the fact that the 5% is different for everyone, but it is a point of some sort.

I'm not saying Heroes is a unique and beautiful flower. I haven't seen it, and maybe all it does have going for it is its x-menness, but I refuse to evaluate fiction on the sole basis that it is "like" something else. IMHO, it stands on its own merits, or it falls on its own flaws. Anything else just seems like being dishonest and unfair to the creative folks that put the fiction together.

Agreed, if I had em, I'd mod you up. Watch the show and judge it on its own merits. (Disclaimer: I have yet to see it, it could suck and be a shameless rip-off)

I play many a game, When reccomending to my kids, Too many times I hear things like "Tremulous is a Natural Selection Rip-Off" from someone who hasn't even played the game. Almost all open source games are derivatives. Hell even if it is derivative that does not automatically decrease its quality. For example, Ipods are derivative of the Walkman. Now, this is something I do not get: are Linus, Richard Stallman some kind of Gods ?

I prefer to use the term Gnods.

And No they aren't. They are incredibly bright, well educated programmers. They are leaders of very important software projects. RMS is also the founder of FSF. Creator of GPL, Head of the Church of Emacs, and several other things. I've heard both of them described as assholes, but I tend to think they are both not.

When they speak Concerning GPL issues or Linux , like EF hutton, people listen. Why? because they are the deciders (sorry George.)

Personalities and idiosyncrasies aside, they deserve respect for the work done and words written up until now. Nothing either of them has said/wrote has caused me to to lose any of that respect for them.

The fact that you asked this question astounds me. Maybe you are new here. If so please google RMS FSF and Linus, get back to me in 6 months and let me know if I can help you further.
