How is this better than the dozens of vending machines already all over campus? If it's not going to actually bring me my junk food, how is it an improvement? The difference is that with the bot I have to pick what I want in the app, go to the designated location, and then wait for the bot to show up with my order.

  3. The articles I read said that the car traveled for 7 miles from the time the officer noticed the driver was passed out until the police stopped the car. We actually have no idea how long the driver had been unconscious before the cops intervened. I'm sure that some technician will pull the logs from the computer and eventually find out exactly how far the car had gone after the driver passed out. Given that drunk driver pass out in their vehicles and kill themselves and others on a daily basis in the US, the software in this may have saved several lives.

Israel is small enough that current EVs should be able to go border-to-border on a single charge. Given that range anxiety is one of the major reasons why people don't want EVs, it seems a small country can convert much more easily.

For a size comparison Israel is roughly the size of New Jersey. According to Google Maps, driving from the nothernmost tip to the southernmost tip of the country is 520km. Tesla's Model S 100D has a range of 540km, so there are no locations in the country that you cannot travel to on a single charge with today's technology. In 11 years battery technology will likely be better and cheaper, making this a practical move for the country.

  6. Seattle is still more expensive. on Authors of Controversial 'Seattle Minimum Wage' Study Revise Their Conclusions (bloombergquint.com) · · Score: 1
Let’s compare Seattle to Renton (city next door to Seattle going southeast). Actually, let’s compare two separate McDonald’s restaurants on the same street (Rainier Ave. South), one in Seattle and one in Renton. Seattle currently has a minimum wage of $15.45 per hour for most fast-food workers; Renton employers only have to pay the state minimum wage of $11.50 per hour.

I picked four items from the menu to compare prices at the two restaurants; a Big Mac, an Egg McMuffin, a large Coke, and a large fry. At the Seattle location (9304 Rainier Ave S, Seattle, WA 98118) those items respectively cost $5.89, $3.89, $1.99, and $3.39 plus 10.1% sales tax for a total cost of $16.69. At the Renton location 3 miles away (73 Rainier Ave S, Renton, WA 98057) those same items respectively cost $4.89, $3.79, $1.00, and $2.89 plus 10% sales tax for a total of $13.83. So there’s a 21% increase in cost in Seattle compared to Renton for the same items.

The 777-9 is roughly the same size as a 747-400 and the proposed 777-10 would be about the same size as 747-8. Given that twin engine planes are more efficient than 4 engine planes in most use cases, airlines are finding it much more cost effective to order the new 777 compared to the 747. Thus the reduced demand for the 747, and similarly the A380. Boeing currently has 326 orders for the new generation 777 compared to 14 unfulfilled orders for the 747-8, and Airbus has 95 unfulfilled A380 orders.

Samsung started selling the Galaxy 8 and 8+ this past spring and the Note 8 in September. A fair comparison would be comparing the iPhone X to the Note 8 since both were released this past fall and have similar price points. I’d assume the X sold more units than the Note, but I haven’t seen the numbers for either.
Either way Samsung sells around 50% more phones than Apple, and makes components for all of the iPhones and many other smart phones as well.
