"We began our early development efforts in console gaming, and we have always been excited about returning to this arena. Additionally, we've wanted to revisit the StarCraft universe for some time. With StarCraft: Ghost, we are able to do both."

Translation: We wanted to use Blizzard's name and a great game title to enter into the console market.

I'm not meaning to flame here... But it looks like that to me. It could turn out to be a great game. However I do question how much it will be starcraft and how much it will be star_based_game_set_in_space_with_aliens_and_human _ghost_character.

If It's good (which I do hope. I've always supported Blizzard), I guess I'll have to buy a console.

I thought along the same lines... It is Unix, so UFS should be better... So, I formatted my iBook and went with UFS.

I was wrong. All of the mac applications run much better under HFS. Things like Appleworks need an HFS partition so they work with OS 9 as well as X. And mozilla still won't run in a UFS partition. As of version 10.1.3 (not exactly sure which one I tried) there were still a LOT of problems with UFS. I got a lot of data corruption on my UFS partition. Also, disk IO seemed a lot slower than with an HFS partition. The system kept getting slower and slower.

Finally, I reinstalled again with HFS. All of my troubles went away. In my opinion, don't use UFS unless you have a really important reason to do so.

  15. Re:Yeah, ok, but.... on Review: Star Wars Episode II, Attack of the Clones · · Score: 2

I'm still trying to figure that one out... The story in Spider-man rocked and the effects were really well used. It was overall an awesome movie, every part of it.

Episode 2 was good, but lacked in a few areas as Taco mentioned. Specifically for me the 'romance' scenes which seemed as awkward as when geeks talk to chicks... Also, the CG to human interaction was not really well done, they seemed to work totally independant. That was especially noticable in the fight scenes. The effects and war sequeneces were amazing though.

With all that said, Episode 2 had the flashiness and would win an award for best effects. Spider-man was, IMHO, better written and done. I felt the effects were used wisely and really made the movie work.

I'm sorry, but the die hard mac users are going to have to get with the times...

Macs arn't just for non-geeks anymore (Arguably the first apples were for geeks, became less geeky...). Mac OS X is the ultimate hybrid to allow both geeks and non-geeks a common platform which both can enjoy and use how they want. Heck, why do you think there is an apple section on /.

I bought my first mac last year specifically because of OS X. I needed a laptop that I could use for work and school. I wanted a UNIX based system but the ability to run commercial applications if needed (I love OS and Linux, but there is still no MS Office for it and probably never will be... But everyone still sends me .docs).

I still have people come up to me and say... "you bought a mac??? Don't geeks not like those? They are too colorful to be geeky."

Macs are for geeks and non-geeks alike. For different reasons though (sometimes). Mainstream users will probably figure this out in 3 or 4 years time.
