    Forgot to also mention, what extra job do you need to create when copying is nearly free to the producer. Why wouldn't they make that as profit instead of wasting it on more employees.

    Blah, they'll buy the cheapest macbook cause it's apple and it's cheap enough and seriously most of them don't even need anything more then that. Could they get better for 1K? Yes, do they care? no. The free iPod was just too good to pass up.

    Not sure about other universities but that wouldn't fly here where I work. Frankly, anything that would affect research is a big no no. The science departments would kill you if you decided to ban linux from their desktops. NAC (network access control) has been discussed but mostly ignored because they can't currently find a solution that fits everyone's needs.

    Why is this rated informative, this is the same bullshit comment we see here every day. Look, business is business and FOSS folks are doing what they can to promote what they think is best. Microsoft does the same. In the end, it's healthy, it keeps MS in check and MS gives a few knocks to the FOSS folks that keep em coming up with new ways to push their stuff. Competition is good. All out assault on Microsoft is fair game. ( aside from pure slandering)

    to make this happen they would need a few more elements which I'm sure is coming. Storage is one. I just don't think it's unique really, HP and Dell have similar stuff right now. Lets not forget that HP is the second largest seller of network hardware after cisco. First or second in servers. Not sure about their storage offerings.

    I hardly has that many new features. It's sort of a clean up that they did. I can hardly find one really crazy awesome feature that would make it that much better than vista feature wise. No, cleaner isn't really what I consider a feature.

    while I don't personally use it for daily work. I do have to support users who do use windows. So in the end, yes I care. Until the day I can get Linux accepted I'm stuck supporting windows networks. I also do Linux server support and OSX client support so it's not all bad.

    Yeah, my windows usage is mostly work related. In essence, from our testing it's doing pretty well. One of the net admins here did have some serious issues with what I believe was video card drivers but that is somewhat expected at this stage.

    That's not how it works. You can just go out and try to buy every outstanding stock in one shot anyway + you still have to convince the current stock holders to sell.
