Actually, it makes for an interesting tax loophole, since one can, in theory, purchase something as a business expense or whatever, write it off his taxes, then recoup the money in rebate form. That'd take some hardcore auditing to be found out, and as far as I know, it's not even illegal. (I'm not an expert on tax law and this should not be considered legal advice.)
If someone has a copyright on a 3MB song, does that mean they have the copyright on the number 1010101111010101....01101001001100011?
Scale it down to the micro... that means that this comment is now copyrighted by me and is represented by the number 4094636485321577789513575325...956. I want my royalties.
No, slashdot has not become anti-tech. However, we have become anti-bad-tech.
Leapfrog and VTech suck pretty hard and are incredibly expensive. Hell, for $69.95 plus some software prices you could pick up a one-gen-old console and load it out with all the educational games. Personally, I'd reccomend getting an old computer (laptop?) on the cheap and loading it with some old emulators, preferrably hooking a nice kid friendly controller up too. Back when I was younger (10-ish years ago?) my brother and I used to LOVE the Tonka series for the Sega Genesis.
Anyway, moral of the story is, if you're smart enough to ask us slashdotters about this stuff, I have faith that you can think of an innovative and original solution to your problem...
Your system is among the top 12% of all systems scanned by the Game Advisor.
Woohoo Radeon 9600
Hmm it's good to know what a $1000 one year old box can do.
No matter how secure internet banking is, I'll always feel most comfortable physically handing my money to a teller and getting a familiar yellow receipt.
Yea, you pay the tax on the full ticket.

He's still alive, you insensitive ass.
Ben Franklin was much cooler than Martin Luther King Jr., I mean he discovered electricity! Why don't we have his birthday off?
myTunes.
My mind... can't comprehend... *explodes*
In a conventional lens where refraction in 'positive', the light is bent because as it enters the lens it slows down.
Does this mean that in this 'superlens' light will speed up as it enters, traveling faster than the established speed of light?
Why does this story get the Christmas tree?
NetBSD v3.0 is my early Christmas present.
Please move this to the Apple section :P
The hum from my non-LCD tv annoys the piss out of me, and I should prefer the soothing undertones of cooling fans. Aah, 90mm of ambient goodness.
At first, I though that everyone, knew how to use proper, punctuation. But, now I see, I, was wrong.
I didn't know you frequented slashdot, Mr. Shatner!
Moreover, is it now FINALLY legal for me to download and use nintendo ROMs?
News for Losers. Stuff that noone cares about.
Once it's up there, it can chill out somewhere waiting for another asteroid from which to save civilization.

They get all the perks, free powerbooks, nanos, mighty-mice, etc. Also, they get a freakin sweet laptop bag with integrated speakers.

If I wanted to play PSP games on my TV I'd buy a PSOne.
Just another example of where an OSS junkie finds gainful employment in the dot-com industry.
Because, you know, it's a good idea to recreate things that took millions of deaths to defeat.
What kind of Gentoo nerd would I be if I called tech support?
