  2. Re:Mostly nuisance for most of us on A Device to Grab Data From Cell Phones · · Score: 1

Yes, there are excruciatingly easy ways to unlock certain phones without the password..

When I got my first cell phone, a Razr V3C, I put a password lock on it, only to find out on the first try what if you power it up and then close the lid while it boots, it will simply not ask for your password, and you'll be in.

    Fantastic!

  3. Perpendicular you say? on The Pentagon's Supersonic, Shape-Shifting Assassin · · Score: 1

"CNN reports that Seagate is under contract to build a new supermegabytic, data-shifting hard disk drive by 2006. The main innovation is in its single, rotating platter. From the article: '[It] will cruise with its 500-gigabyte-long platter perpendicular to the label glued on top like a new and expensive hard drive. But just before the drive breaks the speed barrier, its single platter will swivel around 60 degrees (hence the name) so that one end points forward and the other back. This oblique configuration redistributes the shock waves that pile up in front of a drive at 21,000rpm speeds and cause data loss. When the Switchblade returns to submegabytic speeds, the platter will rotate back to perpendicular. The main challenge will be guessing if the bits are parralel, perpendicular, or plain offtopic.'"

  5. Re:Says alot about today's music.. on Software Predicts Music Success · · Score: 1

I understand they want to make a living out of it. I'm just saying that today's music in general is very generic and uninspired, much more so than before. Sure, there are some exceptions, but overall, I'm willing to bet the 2000s will be regarded as "the great depression" of music, provided it ever gets better. Making money shouldn't mean making shit products. I guess that's your ways but not mine. I saw a rock show no later than last night..while you were probably posting flames here.. gj kthx

Maybe thats why we're starting to get flooded with domains like .tv, .info, .biz, .lollercoaster, etc

Problem with IPv4 was running out of IPs, but they must be running out of domain names too?

Also, something should be done about the damn placeholder sites waiting to be bought, with no other purpose. You should not be allowed to have a domain name unless you're going have a REAL SITE there. A good example is the damn "search engines" which you get on as soon as you make a typo in a URL. Another example is netidentity.com.. on the bottom of their sites they say "We've reserved over 17,000 name-based domains to share with you. Get an e-mail or web address in your name -- it's easy"

What a waste of valuable domain names this is.
