Consoles before now have been non-stackable due to their own limitations (top-loading, carts, etc) EXCEPT the PS2, and sony has learned their lesson.
The reason the 360 and PS3 are so unstackable (especially the PS3):
THEY WANT TO BE ON TOP!
Sony and MS dont want anything to be on top of their console in your entertainment center. That would make it convenient to put a PS3 on top of the 360 or a 350 on top of a PS3.
Nintendo doesnt seem to mind, though. The revolution looks tiny and perfectly stackable, either on its side between components or lying down flat underneath/on top of components.
I think a lot of people are misunderstanding this...
Nintendo has stated many times that a DS will be able to "play online at any wireless hotspot around the world". This USB adaptor is not because the DS or Revolution will only connect to it, it's because...
Nintendo wants stuff to be easy. Your girlfriend (yeah, right) wants to play Animal Crossing DS online, but doesnt know shit about computers, thats why she lets you hang around. Say youre out of town and she she wants to set this up. The process:
1) Buy Nintendo USB adaptor
2) Plug it in to a computer
3) Play Animal Crossing DS online
It is cheap and thoughtlessly easy, and that is how it should be. For the rest of us, we can use our existing WAPs and not have to bother with this.
Theyre both fine systems, but the DS is really the only one that has catered at all to the portable market.
Who is surprised?
On one hand we have a game system that plays homemade videos, a proprietary movie format, mp3s, and games.
On the other hand we have a game system that plays... games. And not even regular games, but weird new stuff that can literally only be done on this one system
People have gone on about the PSP's lack of quick games. The DS is perfect for this, and developers seem to be tailoring games to this philosophy. Dont have much time? How about a "2-Minute War" in Meteos? A quick time trial in Kirby? An attempt at a new high-score in the falling portion of Yoshi? Really the only game that I can use like this on the PSP is Lumines, but Lumines was meant to be played for a long period of time, not in short relays like Meteos. I keep my PSP at home where it is safe and where I can sit down after work and play. I keep my DS in my briefcase where I can take it out during a break (or slow work day) and play (and then quickly hide if a customer comes through).
There are plenty of people out there with great voices that are willing to work and make money.
Who really cares if Joe Pantaleone (sp) does a great job voicing a game, or someone else does a great job voicing a game? As long as its good, I dont give a rat's ass.
Actors, and now voice actors it seems, have always thought they were important and worth all the money they make. In the case of voice actors, they can be replaced.
How many games prominently display Starring David Hayter on the front of the case? I know they include him in the movie-like opening credits, but that is not advertising like when you see SANDLER... ROCK... The Longest Yard on a commercial, movie poster, or dvd case.
Theyre selling the actors and then the product. Games havent fallen down that pitfall yet, so its not too late to snub the SAG and get some new voice actors. Sure it would suck to have a different-sounding Solid Snake, but I dont think it would disrupt my life enough to actually matter.
perhaps nothing broke for you, but for many others, a lot of things broke. hell, even MS' own programs broke. its as easy as a complete reinstall of your OS and all of your applications.
next thing you know, people will start saying that Nintendo will die because they dont offer music downloads/home jukebox/AC unit controls with the Rev. --- Parallel to DVD playback this gen. What will be the big 'useless but must-have' feature after the next gen? Oh the shame of making something that ONLY plays games!
Does anyone else see this movie as a $75Mil+ Halo3 commercial meant almost solely to steal thunder from the PS3 and Rev's launches?
Am I the only one who finds that abso-fucking-lutely rediculous?
If a game is "too hard" to port to x86 linux (as was the case with Tribes Vengeance), then it will also be "too hard" to port it to x86 mac. some companies *coughvivendi* just dont care.
though in the case of Tribes Vengeance, i think we came out ahead by not getting it...
HOLY CRAP, THEYRE SELLING LIKE MAD! WE CANT MAKE PSP's FAST ENOUGH!! Sony PSP! Only $250 at your nearest store! Go get one before theyre all gone forever!
What, this doesnt seem like marketing BS to the submitter or editor?
...but were Square-Enix to remake any (particularly FFVI) of the 2d FF games, I would surely be a fan of theirs again.
Imagine the World of Light being torn in half shown using some modern graphics engine, while set to a fully-orchestrated version of the original score.
Remake the classics, new stuff obviously isnt their strength any more.
I dont think Final Fantasy is going anywhere, as there are too many rabid fans of Square-Enix.
It doesnt matter that for years there have been superior RPGs on the market, the latest Final Fantasy is always better in their eyes. Hell, Square-Enix knows this already. Why make a TRUE Chrono Trigger sequel or finish another RPG of a different name (Xenogears) when they could divert most of their time and effort to Final Fantasy? They did the latter and it has done nothing but paid off for them.
Personally, I gave up after I realized I loved 7 so much solely because it was 3d and all shiny. I have since played 4, 6, and Chrono Trigger more times than I can remember (on my real SFC, no emulators).
Of course it should be taken with a mine of salt, as i is 100% rumor, but "the word" is that the Rev will have four 2.5GHz PPCs and dual ATI video processors.
In defense of the article, Nintendo really hasnt shared enough information to be included in this comparison. Maybe it is 4x PPCs, or maybe it really is only 2-3x more powerful than the cube.
Nintendo's explaination of the Rev's power is even less trustworthy than Sony's. Nintendo undershoots the numbers by a huge margin every time. Based on that fact alone, speculation based on what they say (sans detailed hardware specs) is even more futile.
Between episodes III and IV means:
No jedi.
So what the hell will it be? Without jedi, Star Wars is just Another Show Set in Outer Space.
Will there be a convenient pocket of jedi "out there somewhere" that arent killed?
Seriously, it's a CPU. Just deal with it.

1) Assist Nintendo in the hopes that Sony's fledgling handheld business goes the way of the NeoGeo Pocket Color
2) Nintendo again has no competitor in the handheld market
3) Microsoft enters the handheld market
You KNOW that someone out there tried it...
me
Do you honestly believe that if AMD had an inferior product, they wouldnt spin their ads to make it seem better?
Its advertising, get over it.
MythTV skips over these commercials you speak of, and if you dont have a Tivo/MythTV/ReplayTV then you can simply mute the television it like I do.
In stead of watching the commercials over and over... dont.
What's wrong with the clipboard?
Select text, middle-click where you want to paste it. Does this not work for everyone?

98 to 2k?
2k to XP?
perhaps nothing broke for you, but for many others, a lot of things broke. hell, even MS' own programs broke.

You dont need as much battery life if you cant play your mp3s or videos on your portable devices.
DRM improves battery life!

Now that I've gotten a rez and E3 has wrapped up...
Now you got my hope up for nothing, I thought that somehow I had missed out on the revelation of a new Rez game.
