I know everyone's pocketbook is different, but a used GC at EB/GStop is $59.00. I traded in a few crappy PS2 titles and got mine for $6.00.

I've since traded in a bunch of stale PS2 titles and have Mario Party 5, Donkey Konga 2 w/bongo's, Starfox Adventures, Puyo Pop, Mario Sunshine, Metroid Prime, and Luigi's Mansion for a total investment of about $60 including the system.

That's about the cost of just one new title, and I have had more FUN with the GC than I've had with my PS2 in years.

and I bet you are probably around 25 years old. I too am choosing Nintendo in this next round. The reason I gave an age guess is because most NES players are now about 25 or so and are out of MS and Sony's demographic of immature "mature" games and FPS's.

There is a huge trend right now of gamers looking to return to the core of gaming: Fun, Accessible, Innovative, Unique, and Enjoyable games. Games where gameplay and design get the bulk of the effort, like it used to be.

I get modded down all the time as a N fanboy, but the fact is that I've been a PC and PS2 game reviewer and media rep. for years. I see the trends, and I see this next generation of consoles as the final catalyst to begin the change in videogaming. I truly believe that the name choice "Revolution" is going to end up being just that and propelling Nintendo back to the forefront and changing the face of gaming. No matter what brand your loyal to, a change is needed, no company is better equipped to do it either than the big N.

I have been a member of the Sony only media. However you want to try to paint me as a Nintendo fanboy. Whatever man, give it a rest.

If you see innovation in the 360 or PS3, you are kidding yourself.

Also FYI most console releases are about 2x as powerful as their predecessor overall. And the truth is that the PS1's IO processor was 33.8688MHz the PS2's: 36.864MHz! Want me to keep going? I can blow your claims out of the water on every console you listed. I spent 2 years working directly with the PS1 and PS2 hardware... so take your shit elsewhere. You're not going to stump me, and you can try all you want but at some point you need to give it a rest and move on. If you don;t like what I say, then don't read it.

I look at things objectively, fairly, and critically. I've been in this bsiness long enough to not fall into the pitfalls that most fans do. I am excited for the Revolution. I'd be just as excited if it were a Sony or Ms creation that was attempting to usher in fun, gameplay, and substance over glitz, hype and flash.

The Revolution is pretty damn revolutionary in todays age of games, to deny this is idiocy.

I can appreciate the counter-argument, but I still just can't for the life of me ever understand the music industry. When the switch from Cassete Tape to CD came, Cassettes were still cheaper to buy. Even now there is simply no excuse for CD's to be much more than $5-10 tops. The whole thing is that you need to get your product to a price that makes the effort to pirate it a loss. You wil always have people who will pirate stuff no matter what, but if I know that for $5 I get liner notes, art, and a pressed CD all without any time investment on my part I'm all for it! And if the individual starving-artist can sell CD's at $5-10 then there is NO reason anyone else can't.

I'm really tired of seeing all these music and movie stars living in beyond the lap of luxury for doing nothing more than performing. The priorities in this country are quite skewed, and I just wish people put some thought and effort into what they watch and listen to. I mean I hear people say how good of a movie "The Day After Tomorrow" was, that movie was garbage and full of so many things that made no logical sense it was amazing. But I guess some people are able to suspend their belief better than me and/or have no thought process while watching a film. Same with most Pop/rap music. I mean when you stop and think about the premise of most of these "songs" it is about as pointless as can be. I just get fed up with what people accept, and expect these days... it ain't much.

I'm not sure you understand what viral marketing campaigns are, MS's ILOVEBEES or Origen are two examples. Nintendo has never ran a viral marketing campaign so far, and I don't think they ever will, it's not their style.

Witholding information about an unfinished product is not hype. Sure it generates interest, but that would be like the zen form of hype. "The hype is not to hype." They've basically stated the TRUTH from day 1. But people are so not used to this approach they have to read more into everything.

Nintendo said that the controller will be innovative and easy to use and fun, they said it will be simple to duplicate by their competitors, they said it isn't finished yet. All truth.

They said it will download old games. There were rumors that they would be free, Nintendo objected, but then said that they will be free in some instances like with a game purchase or as a marketing tool. Truth.

They said the system will be about 2x as powerful as current systems in tha face of others claims of 10x+ power. That took balls and again it was the truth, not just for them but for everyone. The next gen systems will be about 2x as powerful. Just as is the normal case. Truth.

I mean a lot of spin and arguments have come out about all of this but the majority of it comes from US, not them. They actually have been about as truthful as any game company before a launch, even themselves. I can only think that they are pretty sure of themselves and their product, they really haven't turned up the marketing-speak as of yet. And we'll see at TGS if they do or if they keep on with their current approach.

I wouldn't dream of pirating an independant artist like a local Pittsburgh guy named Brad Yoder, I willingly pay him DOUBLE what he's asking when I'm at one of his shows and he is very appreciative. TGS is coming up soon, Nintendo will be stealing quite a bit of thunder I'm sure. I also look for them to actually beat the PS3 to market when all is said and done. Nintendo knows that no matter how badly MS wants to break into Japan, they never will. I have many friends in Japan and the actual interest is so low it's akin to their excitement at belly-button lint. Nintendo also knows that even if they do release last that most people will have played the launch titles for their new "uber" systems and be bored and will pick up a Revolution in addition to their 360/PS3... while families and enthusiats will gladly wait it out.

Nintendo is actually really well positioned in this war. MS and Sony are banking on competing formats of media (of which only one will win), different architectures, and are actually helping to ensure mutually assured destruction. Nintendo actually has to do very little but continue to slowly release information over time to build to a successful creshendo.

I was really hoping Guild Wars was going to be a runaway hit, it kind of has been popular due to the no monthly fee but after just a couple months people are GLAD to pay for a better more immersive game. Kind of had the opposite effect unfortunately.

I just wish a MMO could debut with a reasonable fee like $4.99 a month or even a tiered approach: $2.99 a month for 20 hours, 4.99 for 40hrs., 9.99 for unlimited. That way normal folks who work, sleep, bathe, date, etc. could play and not feel like they are getting ripped compared to the 1337 24x7 players. I mean I may get to log on and play 20-30 hours a month max, If I could pay a variable rate with a upper-end cap I'd be glad to. Months where I'm away or only get on for 5 hours should not cost me the same as a month where I play every day. There has to be better business models, but what incentive is there for MMO companies to even try?

A little OT but related. I am similarly amazed at how Americans sit and watch the reality shows about rich kids, celebs, musicians showing all their opulence and low IQ's... yet Americans still idolize these people that have IQ's on par with my shoe size and are not at all phazed by the fact that they have to work every day of their lives for a mere pittance while these folks barely fumble through mundane activities without a team of people to help them and then they complain that they are "losing" money.

I wish people could get their pritorities straight and begin to turn things around instead of being content to fund the coffers of these morons and not demand more. Honestly, most pop music and hollywood movies aren't worth the media they come on, I manage to feel cheated when I "waste" a blank CD or DVD that cost me 25-50 cents for most of the crap out there.
