He compared a skin pack for a horse to an in-game fork or spoon. That was my point after all, that you shouldn't compare them because they aren't the same. Apples and oranges and whatnot.
We can debate on what price is fair all day long, but never come to an agreement so I'll move off of that.
As far as the "status" thing goes, I tell all my friends who play Oblivion what armor I have and what sword I'm using. It's big bragging rights to see who's bigger and badder, even this isn't an MMO.
Cars cost more than chapstick. A steak dinner costs more than a piece of gum. By saying that there are 4000 in-game items and expecting them to be priced equally you're comparing apples to oranges. If Bethesda were to offer additional weapons, neat new spells, or special armor they'd be more than 1.5 cents too.
I can see where you're coming from with $2.50 not being that "micro" of a payment, but it's a luxury item and is priced as such. It would be nice for them to be cheaper, sure; but if people have the cash to blow and want the status, then it won't go down. That's why Bentley and Ferrari are still in business.
Isn't this the point of the Xbox Live Marketplace thing? I mean, microtransactions and all that? I could have sworn that people have been talking about this for quite a bit.
True. If only there were a new PassMe program that would come out after the new DS is released. They could call it (don't mind me, I'm only spitballin' here) something like "PassMe 3".
Fans of Nintendo's most obscure material (such as the original Mother and the various Japanese Satellaview and RandNet online materials) will be ignored when they demand downloadable versions of Mario Excitebike and BS F-Zero 2.
When the GameCube got the bongos it was practically begging for Punch-Out!! I never understood why they didn't capitalize on the nostalgia factor there.
I'm far from the most astute, but wouldn't downloadable content like NES, SNES, or N64 games require some sort of storage?
Everything I've read so far about the Rev mentions nothing about a HDD but says that it will have 512MB of flash memory. I guess this could be used for savegames, but there's no way this could be used for the downloaded games.
I know Ninty's reluctant to take the plunge, but would it kill them to put a 5 or 10GB HDD in the thing? Or am I completely misunderstanding how this is giong to work?
They did mention Super Mario Sunshine, but they also said that it would accept GCN discs, right? I think the emu comes into play with 64, SNES, and NES.

DRM - Against it.
Activism - For it.

Son of a bitch.
You know, I'm kind of a jackass and all, but I'm being dead serious when I say that that is adorable.
Get a dictionary, jackass. You ruined it.
Exactly. I--Dammit, I droped my sandwich. Thanks a lot, fundie bastards
...are you saying that I wasted my time getting that game-onomics degree?
When the GameCube got the bongos it was practically begging for Punch-Out!! I never understood why they didn't capitalize on the nostalgia factor there.
Oh, good grief. I just...I don't even know what to say. I would love to see Anonymous Coward on the ticket in '08 though.
Is it just me or are nearly all games.slashdot articles from GamesIndustry.biz these days?
This was cool when I saw it at 8am on Digg.
el oh el
I typically go to Target and get a just released DVD for $15. The price of UMDs is ridiculous, but I may be saying that because I'm a proud DS owner.
That is one hell of a verbose burn.
There's going to be some creepy furry-porn based on that, I guarantee.
I stand corrected sir and tip my hat to you.

My guess is the latter, but who knows.

Hey, I call it like I see it.
That second sentence shouldn't be a question, stupid
Don't all three have backwards compatibility now? Plus Nintendo Rev will be able to download old Nintendo and Super Nintendo games?
