  1. fax machine on New Apps Fight Robo-Calls By Pretending To Be Humans (nola.com) · · Score: 1

Don't ever leave a call back number. My fax machine will dial you back for hours. Amazing how many of the young call center workers don't know what the fax "boop" means. Any time spent occupying the person or taking a position up in the queue is time that some old person won't get scammed by "Microsoft Support", "The IRS", "Apple Care" or "Car Warranty". That last one took 30 full minutes of scam baiting to get the actual price of $600 per MONTH. I did point out I could get a whole new car for that....in my persona as a senile old guy with a hearing problem.

Alcohol education ? Sure. Mandatory Drink-Drive course-yes. In car intoxilyzers ? Yes, for repeat offenders. Pay a private lobbying group ? Nope.

  5. If you don't drink, you don't want to pay for a device that stops you from drinking and driving. If you do drink, even socially (no not face-down or all day every day) you aren't going to want a car to decide you can't go home. Breath machines in a police setting are calibrated, and not portable. They are expensive and must be used in a certain way by a trained operator to be valid (the roadside handhelds are NOT enough, which is why you are dragged back to the station to blow). Lastly, a cop breath machine lives indoors, not outside in a car that will see -15F to +120F parked outside-think Montana to Florida. I know this is MADD's wet dream, and they tend to get whatever they want, including mandatory attendance at a MADD presentation (for which the offender pays MADD) as part of your Court Sentence, but this is a bit too far.

If you do drink the last thing you want is your car to decide you have had 'too much', whatever that is. Can't see who, if anyone, is the audience here. While I loathe the right wing description of "virtue signaling" is that where Volvo is going ? Back when there were two swedish car companies, they used to say "one for the right lane (volvo) and one for the left lane (saab). Looks like the right lane is now a maiden aunt who reads Streetsblog and is writing letters against legal cannabis and about speeders on her block to the local legislators....

I'm someone locked into Apple. Why ? My children pounded on them for years--no issues with data loss or OS. My wife is an appliance user...no issues with her stuff either. Every time someone gives me a Windows machine I spend hours on updates (that often don't load) and getting nonsense out of the start up folder. Based simply on time "running the box", and not even doing work, the money spent on Apple has paid back in time returned to my life. YMMV and I don't code, but the only Windows machine we have is my son's gaming rig...and even he wishes he wasn't forcibly "upgraded" to 10. So, just no.
