No, it's not a tragedy.. But there used to be a thing called responsibility.. Now, I know we use this words to get children to do what we feel they need to, but it's not a real concept any more. Used to be, if you made a product, you were responsible for the product's safety and performance. Microsoft made a product that is not safe, not reliable, and just plain not satisfactory.

No, it's not a tragedy.. But Microsoft should be held to their responsibilities.

In the past, I worked for OfficeMax and then Staples. At each store, we would have weekly price updates that would automatically print in the back room. We would get a sheet of the stickers and go about finding the products to reprice. On occasion, an item would be priced down to next-to-nothing in order to flush out the stock to make room for a replacement or just clear out non-selling junk.

Sometimes, a lazy employee would just ditch his sheet of price updates and choose to take a smoke break or something of the sort. As a result, the customers would come in, see the widget priced at $49.99, and choose to buy it at that price. Upon their coming to my register, I would scan it, the POS would hit the database, and it would come up with the updated price of $9.99. I would usually get a response like, "What? You screwed up on that one.." I would explain the price update, and they would usually hurry off to grab a couple more of said item to purchase.

  20. Current mesh problems.. on Cisco To Unveil Wireless Mesh Hardware · · Score: 2, Interesting

Having messed with current mesh systems (WDS), I'm not very satisfied. The problem that you find is that the radio can only recieve or send at any given moment. Wi-Fi is half-duplex. The effect of this is that every hop you have, you are cutting your available bandwidth by 1/2. Also, reliability goes down the toilet and you add the problem of dumb repeaters circulating packets like highschoolers passing a joint around behind the gym.

If you were to have a mesh network using up TWO wireless channels, each AP having two radios, you could break this bottleneck and have a fake-full-duplex network, meaning you'd basically just tack on a few ms of latency for each hop. Problem solved, no ground-breaking research needed. The problem with it? They would never make a dual-radio WRT54G, so I'd have to pay a bloated price (Probably 4x the price of a single-radio AP) due to economies of scale and such.

One way I made a fake mesh (Which was really more of a star but without so much bandwith cut) was to have a backhaul channel of 14(illegal) and just have a central AP on that chan. On the remote router end, I'd have a client on chan 14, and then an actual AP for the public connected to it by CAT5. Hey, it's rigged.. but it works.

Growing any gardens with more than one sort of vegetable.. (Also Lev 19:19)
Eating shrimp, lobster, crab, or any number of other seafood products (Lev 11:10)

Eating any steak or hamburger cooked less than medium or medium-well (Lev 17:10)
Getting a tattoo. Also, don't write on your hand. (Lev 19:28)

There is a word for the sort of person who would call homosexuality a sin while having a shaven or even trimmed face. Hypocrite. Do you perhaps see how Lev 18:22 could perhaps be antiquated and, dare I say, even WRONG? Either follow ALL of these or stop trying to reinforce reptile-brained homophobia with cherry-picked scripture.

The preceding are 'abominations' or otherwise forbidden. There is no 'point system' so, doing ANY of this is equal to homosexuality. Have you ever shaved before in your entire life? Hey, you're already in Sinville. Off to the bath houses!

Keep in mind that there ARE a number of gay, bi, lesbian, or otherwise alt-sex individuals who make use of Slashdot. Posting up a weak argument against homosexuality as a sig is not the brightest of ideas.
