Wouldn't it have been cheaper to just, say, test it a bit more extensively before releasing it to the public? Granted, 1st gen products usually have their quirks, but I would have thought Apple would make the extra effort to test their machines harder, seeing as this is the 'pro' product line. It's a lot cheaper to find out you messed up in a closed test group, rather than having to recall things.
Is it just me, or are a lot more companies having recalls recently?
It's worse than that. I'm 17 and in a high school in Florida. Someone could walk up to you and punch you in the face, and even if you just stood there and did nothing you would both get suspended for 5 days.
You poor bastard. IIRC, one of my friends got suspended for 5 days because I dropped a backpack on him. All I got was a PM school.
If anyone should have been suspended it should have been me. Besides, IT WAS A BACKPACK, neither of us got bruses from the event, we were completely fine. He was in fucking tears after the incedent, after the end of the school year, he never came back. Morons.
Keep in mind, that this also helps the entire web-browser community. Since Firefox is open source, everyone else has free access to the code, and can then implement it in their browser. Thanks Big Blue!
moreso, what if you thought you bought a legitmate dvd, at a seeming ligitmate place(or ebay)? You are screwed. Or think about the malitious uses this could be used for. while having a party, Johnny Badperson decides that your dvd player is too nice for him. all he would have to do is turn on the player(not even the tv) slip in the disc, wait a minute, and remove the disc from crippled dvd player
Seriously, threatning your customers is no way to do buisness. Where is the fcc to step in on this? [rant]oh wait, there doing a multimillion dollar study on VIDEO GAMES![/rant]
PK'ing usualy takes place in MMORPGs (Massively Multyplayer Online Role Playing Games), although there are several other genres in which this happens (FPS, Tps, Paper and pencel RPG, et al), this article is mostly aimed at MMORPGs, WOW(world of warcraft), Ever quest, et al. PK'ing is when you kill a virtual character, with your virtual character, and the virtual character that you killed is controlled directly by a human.
Is it really that hard to find out that if someone who is good at what they do will do a better job than someone who is not as good? That seems to be common sense.
I guess it is just me... move along now, nothing to see.
I doubt it has anything to do with being crazy. It is more to do with the money & simply not knowing what morality is. The simple fact is, THEY DON'T CARE about how much they harm the internet. They are just out there to make money. Same with telemarketers.
With this in mind: perhaps it would prove more effective if it was the morons that actually buy from these people that got brutally murdered.
What you are talking about seems to be a disturbing trend for a lot of pc buyers. The average joe just dosn't need a 3.0ghz processor, and a 256mb graphics card that runs on PCIe x16, to send e-mail and browse the web. I am typing this right now on a P150, that I refurbished to make it practical. I will however say that ram is where it is at. You can have an old processor, and it will run great if you have enough ram. For example, my school recently upgraded to 2.8ghz processors, but they gave them 128mb of ram. That is like putting a new engine in a car, but having a crappy transmission, or crappy wheels. A 1ghz with 512mb would outperform that by far.
Case in point: people are uneducated on what they need in a pc, so they waste their money on unnessesary things.
Perhaps first you should try getting any internet acess at all into every home. Not everyone has internet acces. Not everyone owns a computer either. I would think that you need to have a computer to connect to the internet, unless you want to try to shove a co-ax cable in your temple and see if that works.
C'mon, get your priorities straight. I don't pay taxes just so that you can just make me pay more.
Let me lay it down for you...
Computers are made of very harmfull components which will harm the enviroment. These can be found on the soder used to put ICs on various components. There is a radioactive coating put on hard drive platters, that is used to help store data. Basically the main problem is that pcs contain a lot of lead. The landfills are already filling up with enough crap like motor oil/diapers. So this makes it not purely enviromental, because pcs take up space in the landfills too.
No one ever got elected by saving money. This saved money will only be spent elsewhere.
What about books? Higher teacher salaries?
Of course this is not all about saving money, it is about allocating it. Money could go to far better places than microsoft's and other large companie's deep pockets.
Sure, now the kids can download legal music from campus. This does not solve the problem. It was stated earlier in the article that they were doing this in an effort to curb music piracy. They had the ablilty to d/l legit music before. I expect the piracy to continue at the same rate as before.
By phone, just like a credit card, after waiting a few hours
That depends, some adhesives can require 800+ pounds to loosen. They would most likely just disable it, or sell it to someone on the street, and let them worry about it Just like LoJack, it would have a gps transmitter in it.
Depends on how well the software is designed and how it operates. Chances are that it will take as many resources as anti-virus software.
I hope these answered your questions, and also makes you(and everyone else) realize that laptops would be hard to protect from theft, especially if the last answer to #2 was used. Case in point, the best way to protect your laptop is just how you would protect your (young) child. Keeping it close at all times while in potentially dangerous places.
It seems that the developers want to push their hardware to the max, putting in a bunch of useless frills. Who the **** needs a button that spins? Whoop-dee-doo! When all these little nice looking things run at the same time, you have a very slow system, my friend. It is not just microsoft, and although I would like to blame them for all my troubles, KDE can seem a bit bloated at times. My point here is: having 0 lag and and OK looking GUI is much better than having a very laggy, but very pretty GUI. You can actually be PRODUCTIVE with the former.
He dosn't only pis off the democrats. With a republican majority, it is more of a battle between moderates and conservatives, as opossed to democrats vs republicans.
Perhaps I could offer a solution:
If there was any way that anti-trust cases could be tried as criminal cases, it would be great. This is one way that companies can put a dent in microsoft. Did you know that in some criminal cases, they could freeze their assets. That should be crippiling to microsoft. On the other hand, it could also end up like the market fraud cases with the ceos of enron and world com. Still better than just sitting on your hands.

Well, at least it's better than this article.
Slow weekend?
Who in thier right mind would actually pay to be insulted like this?
The same people that purchase patents on things like This
Or beat him to death with an enlarged penis.

more important, why is the poll archived so you can't post messages?
Come on! This isn't rocket science guys!
oops.
With a slingshot. This way, they will not have to worry about troubbles re-entering the atmosphere, as they won't leave it in the first place.

That slug must be really pissed off.
I would be too if I had all that elbow grease in my ARM.

And soon we will be able to controll real trains form our homes.

Your point is still valid, just modified.

I will answer them in order:
