Then so is eating turkey. Once a year millions of turkeys get slaughtered for a feast. And what have they done to you ? Did they plan to assassinate you ? No it can't. It is a living organism for crying out loud ! What in the world makes you think you have the privilege, oh I'm sorry, the 'right' as you call it, to take the life of an absolutely helpless innocent turkey ? I'll answer that last one for you ... they taste nice ^_^

Chopped it up ? Tolkien might have been the first fantasy writer. but he sure as hell wasn't the best. The story was mediocre (at best) and way too long-threaded. I am GLAD he chopped it up and made it 'wachtable' (and even then, some people considered the movies to be too long-threaded ). I can't imagine the amount of boredom it would have caused for the audiance if he hadn't.

One thing JRR should be severely punished for however is for the ending of the third movie. Half an hour of gay-ness, while the story was long finished. ( I was watching it in the cinema with some relatively devoted LotR fans and even they just had to laugh at the absurdity of the ending).

Coming from a person who probably never made any program that required heavy processing for the models that needed to be displayed... you definitly want the control/navigation thread to be seperate from the thread updating the models. Even though the resulting graphics move choppy, the user won't have the horror of choppy controls.

The hardware IS cheap enough. I think the only reason why they haven't replaced them is because they wish to maintain a sense of humanism towards their customers. That noone seems to care that these people perform tasks that are so oversimplified that they can easily be replaced by machines seems to worry noone. Saddest part is that it isn't insulting to McDonald's working; even these over-simplified tasks are sometimes too hard for some of them.
