That's pretty darn thorough. But still not 100%. Terrorists just get on the plane, kung-fu everybody, take over. 9/11 over again. Or they just smell really bad - no shower in weeks - people pass out, then they take over. Now we are back where we started.
Rockstar should fire it's marketing department because, obviously, the GTA3 development team can create enough buzz without them. Of course, I'm only half kidding.
I mean, c'mon, every other fan favorite TV series has had a line of traditional novels. When will there be a Firefly series??

Sounds good to me. Jessica Alba and Eliza Dushku are equally hot and I was seriously bummed when Dark Angel was canceled. Of course I prefer a post-pulse dystopia to a pre-pulse government project but Joss can work some magic.
Drive had more episodes filmed than what aired. Maybe not 7 although I'm thinking that it was 5 or 6. Anyway, best of luck to Joss, Eliza and this new show.
Also, some of these people that initially studied computer science "because they liked using computers" may have been steered toward that major by parents (i.e. people not of their generation) that assumed that's what they are into, but really weren't.
My sister keeps mentioning that my nephew (a Gen. Y'er) is a "computer geek" since he's on the PC all the time and is good with gadgets, etc. But I try to explain to her that he's just using the PC as if he would a phone because that's what he's grown up with. Mainly he's just playing games, etc. At 15 if he was a computer geek he would be writing programs, building PCs or screwing with the home network and such. All of which he isn't the least bit interested in.
There are different media outlets for writers so I suppose it might depend on the type of writer that you are. As an avid reader I would say that it is GOOD for authors of (mainly) fiction. Several of my favorite writers have their own websites with forums that they actually contribute to.
Instead of having to rely on jacket cover blurbs, these writers can steer me toward other good writers with links to their websites. It's what the world wide web was designed for, it works well, and I believe these types of writers benefit from it. Not to mention that they can sell things directly to their fans (not just books, other novelties or even autographed works and limited editions).
No kidding. It's only a matter of time before there are free trips to space -- with an (even more) expensive return ticket in addition to all of the nickel and dime (QUID?) expenses along the way. I bet an "I went to outer space and all I got was this T-shirt" novelty tee would get a cool million.
Wonder if anybody from Sony has ever made a copy of their car keys. If so, Ford, GM, etc. should sue their ass under the Sony logic that they have stolen from the automakers.
That can't be right. I've worked two jobs, and the distinguishing characteristic was that I got two paychecks.
-Peter Very true, good point. I just meant that he is working two job descriptions, and yes, that is getting shafted as you mention. Having been in a similar situation I am familiar with the line of thinking. He's probably thinking that if he's up all night chasing down crap for the radiologists and he's too tired to go into work the next day and set up the new server in time then eventually management will have to decide how important it is for him to waste his time at nights.
And it's easy to say "get another job" but everyone would go through the same thought process. Some people would start looking for a new job the next day, or the next week. Some people might wait a few months, etc.
He has just put it off longer than most because he really likes building servers at this company 8-5.
I was in a nearly identical position as a sys admin at a hospital and I'll tell you why I stuck with it for a long time before quitting and probably why the original poster has stuck with it for so long. He is working two jobs. The after hours job is completely different from his daytime 8-5 job. He builds servers 8-5, gets paid well, likes the work, people, pay and he's happy. Then when it's his turn to be on call he becomes the fucking help desk. He's helping radiologists get their images, and other life-threatening bullshit that someone else should be doing. Say, a staffed, after-hours help desk employee that the company does not wish to hire. If the company had to pay the original poster for his overtime then they would instead hire a freakin' help desk person and then he would go back to his sweet 8-5 gig and be happy.
He's probably sticking with it hoping that the eventually that position will be filled and he won't have to do it anymore.
Hopefully you have a fair/good deal with your employer regarding salary and working conditions. Perhaps your employer is not out to exploit you. That is great.
The example that TFA mentions (non-IT example) is that of a store manager at Starbucks. That person has a salary and most would agree the position to be exempt. But, if that employee is spending a good chunk of time making lattes just like the baristas that do get overtime then the store manager should not be exempt as the position is basically a glorified barista.
A real-world IT example of this (and I have seen it) is this: I do not know what you do but being in IT let's say you have a sweet deal going with no/minimal overtime and a fair salary and working hours. Then somebody quits or gets fired. Now you end up having to "temporarily" help cover for this employee until the position is filled. Perhaps the "other duties as assigned" portion of your job description is mentioned. You begin working overtime, etc. Someone in management/HR/Finance ends up deciding that the position does not need to be filled after all because things are getting done now anyway.
You make very valid points. Perhaps this would be used the other way as well. Since it causes no permanent damage why not make these "weapons" more obtainable than than handguns? What a great way for true, patriotic citizens to stop excessive force when they see it? Of course they could be charged with obstruction but a quick zap from multiple directions all at once, for a short period of time would be hard to address.
Apparently the Boomers were responsible for everything, including all technology! Nevermind that your parents don't know the first thing about computers. On second thought, the GP post was correct. http://slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=299321&cid=20627549
Armed jackalopes are even more ornery.
USAF will be paying $49,990 for them.
and the smaller, more fuel-efficient model, the Fuckus.

Yeah, but the fast zombies are harder to hit.

Growing up we had a saying referring to how close something came to almost happening, but didn't ...
"Almost only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades."
Probably about a month and a half. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don't.
The all can be summed up as the "Attempt to make more money Cut".
Naw, the government would love this. It would give them a reason to apply GPS tracking to everybody.
He should have said that they failed a 1d20 Saving Throw vs. Release Delay.

And yet that description is only considered positive features in this universe.
